Pattaya jet-ski scams continue unabated despite promises

PATTAYA: -- Despite local government assurances, made in early August, it appears as though the blight on the tourist landscape in the form of continuing jet-ski scams are continuing unchecked.

While it looks as though many Brits, Americans, Australians and others whose first language is English have heeded the warnings about hiring jet-skis, the East Europeans, Middle Eastern, and Indian visitors are still apparently blissfully unaware of the potential problems they may face when hiring a jet-ski and there’s plenty of empiric evidence to suggest scams are still occurring on an almost daily basis.

In a meeting which took place at City Hall on 4 August, a raft of new ideas were laid out which were aimed at putting an end to the scourge of jet-ski scams.

All jet-ski operators from Pattaya, Jomtien, Naklua and Koh Larn were called to attend the meeting, including those who were openly operating without any form of licensing. It seems hard to believe that people openly operating without a licence are not only known to the authorities but allowed to continue in business without being compelled to legalise their operation. The simple loss of direct revenue to the city you would have thought would have been enough to galvanise authorities into action.

How's this for an old idea...arrest them....:whistling:

Only the most naive expected that anything would actually have been done to remedy the situation.

BTW, that's some really awful writing provided by 'Pattaya Now'. We already have Pattaya Daily News and Pattaya One News butchering the English language with pseudo-journalism. Do we really need another?

I doubt that option made it on to the list.

Confiscate their jet-skis too and crush them.
