chiang mai Posted November 13, 2011 Author Posted November 13, 2011 We're asked to see if we can identify the sub-specialties of the doctors we've listed, if anyone has this information will they please shout. I'm pretty sure that the endocrinologist Dr Umpiga's is Thyroid.
elektrified Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I'm following this with interest as I am often asked about swpecialists in CM. C an anyoine provide more details re Dr. Rat (ENT) at Sri Pat e.g. full name??? Sub-specialty? It's a shame that Sripat has taken down their website in English that listed all the doctors and their specialties, sub-specialties, etc. It also had a schedule of their clinics. If you can read some Thai here it is ---> http://sriphat.med.cmu.ac.th/container/#/main/doctor_special/med The schedule of their clinics is also on the website somewhere but also only in Thai. I would also add to the list 2 Doctors. Both are Professors at C.M.U. and both can be seen at Sripat clinics: One is a Gastroenterologist named Ajarn Piset Pisetpongsa, M.D. He speaks excellent fluent English. He treated the g/f a couple of years ago and we were really impressed with him. She saw all of the GI doctors at Sripat and this guy really stood out. He was more knowledgeable than even the older doctors and was very caring. He is very popular with farangs on TV I have noticed. Another is the guy who brought my son into the world. Ajarn Sompong Trungtawatchai,M.D. He is the most popular CMU Obstetrician and Gynecologist among the Thais. He was great and explained everything, every step of the way. He is very soft-spoken and very patient. But he does not allow photography or video cameras in the delivery room. He is the busiest of all them, delivering many babies each day.
venturalaw Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I very highly recommend Dr. Joy at Elite Smile next to Pontip Plaza. Her English is very good and her skill unmatched. I have been to Ram Dental and others. Dr. Joy is a real find. I seem to remember you posting about an horrendous experience with another dentist regarding a root canal. I believe you changed halfway and went to Dr. Joy who solved all your problems, without pain. Am I correct? Yes. She finished the pain-free-procedure early this year in 2 visits that had been started by another dentist whose conservative approach translated into using as little Novocaine as possible and informing me that a root canal should take no less than 5 visits to complete. There has been no problem ever since.
hellodolly Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011

I would like to say that Dr. Tawachai at Loi Kroh clinic is an extremely knowledgeable GP.
I just don't like the clinic and the crowds with runny noses. He doesn't have much time between patients, but I did make a special appointment with him once after clinic and he's a wealth of knowledge.

Was just going to add him along with these others:

Dr Rat, ENT, Sripat

Dr. Savitri is a Pediatrician (RAM)

Dr. Sharin is Internal Medicine specialist (RAM)

GP - Dr. Tawachai at the Loi Kroh Clinic

For a dentist I would like to recommend Smile Clinic in the Pantip Plaza.
Enter from the street off Chang Klan

Happy to include on the list but we need a doctors name since this is people not business specific.

sorry Dr. Joy at Elite Smile Pantip plaza enter from Chang Klan street

hellodolly Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 I'd like to mention that Ram2 is often overlooked, but for most routine things like colds/flues etc.....they run about half price of the Ram1 and have shorter waits. MY main complaint is the parking situation. And speaking of parking nightmares at hospitals......any secret parking places at Sriphat Hospital?? Don't mind paying 20 baht instead of walking a half kilometer. Where is Ram 2? Are they a hospital or a clinic?
ThaiPauly Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Very good topic Chiang Mai. May I point out though, to save any confusion, that Dr.Morgan's practice is on the Hang Dong Road, 1 klik along from Airport Plaza on the right, just past the traffic lights at Tesco Lotus, not as far as Hang Dong itslef

They have their own clinic down the road from DK Books. He is a consultant to Ram and sometimes puts a patient in Ram, but no clinic hours there. Excellent Dr, although a little higher priced than some, but he will give you only the medicine that you require and what he gives you "works" as he says it will for your condition. His English is impeccable and he will take all the time you need to explain everything about your problem and the medicine. His wife is excellent with children, teens, and women's problems. I have sent many friends and colleagues there, and many continue using them for their primary doctors. On several occasions his expertise in providing just the right medicine has kept me out of the hospital and saved me considerable expense.

In all the Drs, both US military and civilian I've seen, Dr. Sharin is by far the best, most thorough internal medicine Dr. I know or have seen. His fees are a little higher than many clinics, but after seeing him a few times, most of my friends and colleagues I have recommended him to continue to see him because of his expertise. He will only send you for further testing if it is absolutely needed by him to assess your problem. 99% of the time he knows what is going on without any expensive tests. Hope this helps. In your list you should change RAM because he does not see patients there.

As soon as the list and the narrative are signed off I'll push them both out again. The lists that you see subsequent to your recommendation are copies of earlier posts.

chiang mai Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 VERY helpful list. Just 2 suggestions, listing the doctor's outside office/clinic and days/hours if any when adding hours, write "as of" date Great job CM! I'm afraid the effort required to identify which doctor has an outside clinic, find the address and telephone numbers and opening hours, might just be a step too far, don't you think!
