chiang mai
Following on from an earlier thread: a couple of members in the Chiang Mai forum thought it would be helpful to all if there was a pinned list of recommended medical doctors and specialists in the Chiang Mai area (only) - this post is the start of such a list. We will try and clean up and consolidate the list at various times and then ask that it be pinned in this forum for reference - the criteria for inclusion on the list is that a number of TV members must have recommended the doctor/specialist who should speak a good level of English. Please post details of the doctors name, medical specialty, where the doctor works and any other contact details you may have. It will help the nature of this list greatly if we can all remain focused and avoid the usual debate/discussion/war stories of personal experience that typically take place. Thanks! GP – Dr Morgan, Hang Dong, Chiang Mai Cardiologist – Dr Patarapong, RAM Hospital, Chiang Mai Pulmonary – Dr Limsukon, Sripat Hospital, Chiang Mai Endocrinologist – Dr Umpiga, Sripat Hospital, Chiang Mai Gastrointestinal & Liver - Dr Jaruwat Yossombat, RAM Hospital, Chiang Mai Orthopaedic -Dr Suthee (Sripat) & Dr Paiboon (RAM) Head & Neck Surgeon – Dr Mark Thong, NUH Singapore (Note: I've included this name here because it's a very difficult specialty to find in Thailand) Dentist (all aspects) - Dr Varaporn (RAM) I've seen all of the above and can confirm their English is at least very good and based on my take, plus the views of the professionals who recommended them to me in the first place, they are all of a very high professional standard. Hillside4Phil
I saw Dr Morgan and she was very good, also was very prepared to liase with my doctors and specialist here in Perth for ongoing treatment. Went to one of the hospitals and they did not want to know about previous condition and would not speak to my doctor here. I was recomended by another board member here to Dr Morgan and was so happy

uptheos
I agree 100% with this post by Elektrified regarding dematology, skin problems etc. Dr. Siri removed a lump from my neck as an outpatient at Sripat. The biopsy result was OK and he called me personally, to tell me as soon as he received the result. Posted 2010-11-11 01:06:26 There is absolutely none better in Chiang Mai than Dr. Siri Chiewchanvit. He is a Professor at CMU and is considered one of the best Doctors in Thailand. His clinic is at 199 Thannon Moon Muang - very close to Pratu Taphae and Sompet Market. He also has clinics at Sripat and Chiang Mai Ram. He speaks perfect fluent English. uptheos
I would like to say that Dr. Tawachai at Loi Kroh clinic is an extremely knowledgeable GP. I just don't like the clinic and the crowds with runny noses. He doesn't have much time between patients, but I did make a special appointment with him once after clinic and he's a wealth of knowledge. chiang mai
I'll push it to the fore periodically and suggest leaving it open for a week or so so that others can make their contributions, then I'll ask the mods if they will pin it as a reference - perhaps we can go through an update cycle say once a quarter or similar, if anyone has any inclusions or changes they want made to the list I'm happy if they are PM'd to me and I'll do it. jaideeguy
I'd like to mention that Ram2 is often overlooked, but for most routine things like colds/flues etc.....they run about half price of the Ram1 and have shorter waits. MY main complaint is the parking situation. And speaking of parking nightmares at hospitals......any secret parking places at Sriphat Hospital?? Don't mind paying 20 baht instead of walking a half kilometer.

You can park for free in the large parking lot on the opposite side of the street (past the gas station heading towards Wat Suan Dok) and a mini-van will take you right to the back door of the Sripat building. One will be waiting for you at the front door when you are ready to return to your car. The mini-vans come and go every 10 minutes or so.
