Visia After Entering Thailand

Featured Replies

I'm American and will be coming in a month to stay for 4-6 months or maybe longer. I've been to Thailand about 6 times in 2 years (I work abroad) and rent a condo that's in my name. Is it better to get a 90 day tourist visa before I come? My girlfriend said I can a get a work visa for 30,000 or maybe less. She owns two businesses and knows a girl that works at a travel agent who does visas (and has connections). She said don't worry about visa..."can do when in BKK". I will have a return ticket that I can change to anytime. I don't want to get to Thailand and find out I should have done something before I entered. I would have to mail my passport since there is no Thai Consulate close to Texas. I don't like mailing my passport will do it if I have to. Thanks.....

Get the 90 day tourist visa. You will be granted 60 days when you enter and will be able to extend it for another 30 without leaving the country. If you can get a double entry tourist visa, you can make it work for almost six months with the extensions. If you are going to work you can extend it for work purposes once you find a job and it certainly won't cost you 30000 baht.

Thai Visas can only be legally obtained at Thai Consulates/Embassies outside of Thailand.

There are two Thai Consulates in Texas: El Paso and Houston where you can apply, for example, for a double 60 day Tourist Visa.

You get 60 days on entry which can then be extended for 30 days within Thailand, then you go to a border for another 60 day stamp which can again be extended within Thailand for another 30 days giving a maximum total of 180 Days stay in Thailand.

Outside of Asia some basic paperwork and an invitation letter for a business visa may get you a one year Multiple Entry Non B Visa for some Thai Consulates which allows you to enter Thailand as many times as you like within that one year period, each time you will get an entry stamp valid for 90 days.

Ok thanks. I will get the double 60 day Tourist Visa when I go back to Texas. My bad, I figured there would be a consulate in Houston.
