Drove around as well as on Lad Krabang estate this morning.

Still water on stretches of Chalongkrung Road, puddles everywhere sometimes knee deep.

Chao Khun Tahaan, connecting Rom Klao and Chalongkrung, has water on both sides of the road now, so incoming as well.

Last week the back entrance from Chalongkrung Road (around the temple not the main gate!) was partially flooded, today that water was gone apart from a very low stretch of road.

The khlong around that part of the estate was dry last week and now almost full same for all the ditches on the estate itself..... clearly for me as a layman a vague sign.

However Dr. Seree, yesterday on TPBS, as well as the estate authorities informed us however the immediate threat has gone..funny enough Dr. S. admitted he had not been at the estate itself so it could have been a very wild guess??

As late as Thursday he was sure the estate would be flooded within two days...

I noticed they called in Dutch specialists, little late in my opinion...even a Laotian adviser would tell them to start pumping on all area's now before the water becomes a threat on itself...

I can't imagine they were talking already on how the prevent this from happening again, that would be very un-Thai.

Our company staff, technicians as well as workers, have helped revise the estate pumps and clear the pumps from garbage that was blocking the water inflow.

Note; On the several urgent advises from the estate authroities to evacuate since mid October because flooding, varying from 50 cm to 3.00 m was imminent, 200 out of 225 companies with 45.000 workers closed

The estate has not seen any water so far.

Insurance companies won't pay.....gonna be a hard piece to swallow...

We want to go to Kanchanaburi later today..apparently the only way is out to Samut Sakhon, then take the 3094 to Nakhon Pathon and onwards. However are a little worried about getting back in a day or two as reports say Samut Sakhon is next for the water.........any views/advice please

GM Link Post a flood report on one of these daily links with accurate location and severity info if you encounter flooding.

Bon Voyage.

GM Link There is the possibility that Dr. Seree has contacts within Lat Krabang IE or other sources of information more reliable than wild guesses.

I've looked around in the forums and could not find this information so I hope this is the right place for my question.

My GF is flying into Bangkok on Dec 30 and after about 3 days there we wanted to go south for a few days on a beach before turning back north. Does anybody know if these floodwaters are expected to cause trouble further south as they recede from the Bangkok area? A friend suggested we look at Cha-am as it is not quite the scene of other beaches and is relatively quiet but as I look at the map it seems to be close enough that it could be in the path.

Anyway, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

yes but it would be a very small possibility given the fact that the GM I work for sits in the committee and is a chosen member of the estate authority and when I asked him he said Seree/TPBS are expected today for the first time.

TPBS was here a week before with a crew.

hello campers , good morning bangkok,

north east khong 4 lam luk ka road

this is my last post,

as water almost gone from my complex,

my school down 2cm , but no chance of opening next week for sure, in khlong samwa near fashion,

you people have been the biggest help through this difficult time, thank you all very much,

i personally am still not out of the water yet , as we have a house in khu bon , with one meter of water in it, but we can live again with out the fear of no where to live, which i did start to worry about, when the complex was unreachable and the khu bon house was just starting to flood,

my saviour through all this was my super scooter, i pushed it through waist high water many many times, with out it i would have had no chance to carry on working , and simple things like buying food would have been impossible.

lessons learned , for me only believe what i see with my own eyes and what close friends tell me, television no , radio no , news papers no,

try to stand on my own two feet , thailand is not the place to be if you need help to do something,

anyway bye bye from me, good luck to everyone, and ps if you do not agree with anything i have said, i have no problem with that , we are all different and its ok to be so,

sorry mods for going off topic, but i needed to say bye bye ,

No, the current flooding in central Thailand will not reach Cha-Am.

The flooding is moving very slowly. The major roads in Samut Sakhon will still be OK for a few days.

I don't know the specific route to which you are referring (maybe Rama 2 to Hwy 3097 to Phet Khasem in Muang Nakhom Pathom?) and I don't know the status of roads in Nakhom Pathom.

Worst case scenario is you would need to take a detour through Samut Sangkram.

I think you mean the 3097. Don't take this road there are major roadworks (unrelated to the flooding) and it's single carriageway in lots of places.

Go to Samut Songkram and take the 326 via Damnoen Saduek. It comes out on Petchkasem close to the road to Kanchanaburi.

Scot that picture is horrible.. the pain on his house did not hold as good as the pain here. Did he only have 1 floor ?

Anyway here the water is dropping again. Seems to have increased a bit (speed). But that might be temporary as they are going to pump water from the road into the villages next to the roads to save the road. I am next to that road. I think i wont be affected as much as a few other muh bahns that are situated lower as me.

Still dry at Chalermprakiat 28, but not so behind me. The soi behind me (soi 30) had, according to the BMA map (bangkokgis.com), risen from 13cm last night to 32cm this morning and still rising. This is just east of the Rama 9 Park. TeamGroup had said two days ago that the entire area of Prawet from Onnuj to Srinakarin to the north side of Bangna to Kinggaeo road would be flooded in 5-7 days.

As it relates to where I live, there is a klong which runs north and south (and within a few hundred meters of my house as luck would have it). On sois behind #30 along this khlong, depths on roads range from 31cm, 30 cm, 29 cm and 28 cm and rising as I am typing this. The water appears to have gone under the motorway and the Prawet canal and will ultimately go underneath Bangna Trad towards Samut Prakarn.

At least it is moving (not stagnant) and heading for a larger Khlong in Samut Prakarn where it can either be moved to the sea or to the Chao Phraya.

From Thai PBS 'Thailand's Worst Flood' English-language segment 14 Nov 2011, Dr Seree Supharatid and hosts Dr. Rungthip Chotnapalai, Mr. Suphajon Klinsuwan and Ms. Darin Klong-Ugkara got another 5 minutes of programming time covering the Bang Chan and Lat Krabang Industrial Estates situation.

Mr. Klinsuwan: ... our water expert says that if Bang Chan and Lat Krabang can maintain the water outside of the industrial walls for another seven days, the chances that the two industrial sites will be flooded is unlikely ...

...

Ms. Klong-Ugkara: Now we go to the point of Bang Chan Industrial Park and Lat Krabang Industrial Park.

Dr Seree: Yes.

Ms. Klong-Ugkara: You told me that these two industrial parks will be safe, now, right?

Dr Seree: Yeah … ah, because ... ah ... in terms of the water inflow from the north, we found that the … we used a helicopter to survey, yesterday. And then we see that the inflow has something like stopped at Phaonyothin Road. That means all the flood water above Phaonyothin road will go to the Chao Phraya river.

...

Body of presentatation, then closing, below

...

Ms. Klong-Ugkara: Thank you Dr. Seree. So tomorrow we will follow this, ah, issue and we will go to visit the Lat Krabang industrial park again with the experts from the Netherlands, also.

jumbo: Is it possible that he could have done an external survey of the IE flood walls with vehicles, including helicopters (as mentioned above), without even talking to the IE officials and might feel that it would be more direct and informative? I'm not trying to defend him, just to give him the benefit of the doubt, since he has not stated much about his methods and resources - not in the English-language segments that I've viewed, anyway. Mr. Klinsuwan indicated in an earlier segment that Dr. Seree had a very good prediction track record.

Zero problems further south, from bangkok. The water is making it's way to the sea, not to Malaysia! Anything south of Bangkok is fine, and will continue to be fine. Of course the south is getting into rainy season, so anything could happen down there, but as of now, no issues at all.

I know he did a helicopter view on the matters, so he could have had that as a help and he does that a lot I understand to determine a m3 of water which to me seems quite difficult as I remember the formula for m3 being length*width*height(or depth...the latter one being the missing one if you fly over

But I watch his program every day and not because he is wrong all the time, I just wanted to give some more insight in the state of LK estate as I work there on a daily bases...

For your information, I purchased the last bags of cheap salt because in my opinion you need that when authorities try to inform the public on where, when and how high, at least that is my experience...

The company/estate for example, and taking the Thai superstition in account, were happy the governor and his entourage didn't come to visit the LK estate. Why? Because everywhere he went everything went different as he/they guestimated..... :D :D

How is the water level at IT square Lak Si?

I passed on Don Muang highway that section on Monday morning and I noticed there was

zero traffic in that area... so I think you need to wait a few weeks..

Hi ETA,

Have you had any news about our moo baan Noble Geo Watcharaphon? Do you know if the water is down and is it possible to reach there by car?

I have not had any info since last week nd I cannot reach the village management.

I would greatly appreciate a reply if you have any up to date news on the village and neighbourhood.

The flooding is moving very slowly. The major roads in Samut Sakhon will still be OK for a few days.

Worst case scenario is you would need to take a detour through Samut Sangkram.

I drove a similar route yesterday afternoon and all was dry, but a lot of traffic.

I started on Praram 3, went over the Bhumibol bridge to Suksawat to Kanchanaphisek, up to Rama 2, west to the 3097 then north to Phet Kasaem. Traffic was very heavy on Rama 2 going in both directions. The 3097 has a lot of trucks on it now and there are some short dirt segments where the road is under construction, but if you're patient it cleared up about half way from Rama 2 to Phet Kasaem.

I am in Viphavadi Rangsit Soi 64 (nearby).... water is still between shin and knee deep in here and out in Viphavadi main road. I will venture over there later today to get some supplies (I called foodland... they are open with dry goods only!) I'll let you know how it looks, but for me in soi 64, I am waiting a few more days before taking the car out, for sure.

Perhaps someone has accurate information/directions concerning whether it is possible now (dry) to drive from Petchebun Province to Bangkok (Ekkamai area)?

I would appreciate any constructive comments.

I did that on Sunday, did BKK - Saraburi up but decided for another way down

Bangkok outbound Friday evening

Heavy traffic starting 5 km from the end of the expressway, some flooding after the expressway finished, and number 1 to Saraburi is still pretty heavily flooded in some areas, 20 cm outbound, 50 cm inbound, flooding is after Sai Asias (Rd 32) left turn, km 60+. Bangkok - Saraburi took 5.5 hours arriving Saraburi 1:30 AM on early Sat morning. Bangkok - Saraburi (Rd 1) beyond km 70 and road 21 toward Petchabun from Saraburi totally unaffected by floods

Back to Bangkok Sunday

Passed Petchabun and took 3004 (toward Phichit) then 11 passed Tak Fa planning to go via Singburi. Had to turn left toward Lopburi 15 km before hitting sai Asia as a bridge ahead was closed due to flood damage. No flooding yet but a right turn onto 3028 taking me out on sai Asia South of Singburi took me straight through affected areas. Lot's of people camping out on the roads, huge lakes as far as the eye could see, people wading in chest high water, unpleasant smell all around. The administration seem to have done something good up there because I saw drinking water tanks on the road every km or closer even. Very interesting to see, I'm glad I took that way

Onto sai Asia south of Singburi. The road is generally fine with only a few campers here and there, progress good as traffic light, 90 km/h average no problem, also good passing Ayutthaya, traffic starts to build up approx 50 km north of Bangkok, heavy slow moving traffic after km 47, pretty bad also on the expressway the first 10-15 km. Km 50 to Din Daeng took 2 hours. Very little flooding, no problems at all to negotiate
