Anybody knows where I can have my epad repaired?

Oh by the way, Never ever use Alibaba of Aliexpress to import things from China.

If that's the Apple iPad, there's an Apple shop in Central Plaza now, next to Technocom.

No it is an Epad , a bad clone from the Flytouch which is far more better than the "original" Ipad.

How is it better if it needs repairing already? Or are you just asking for if it does need repairing in the future?

I think Flytouch Epad is an Android device, so it's not a clone of Ipad. It sounds like the device that 20baht gave some excellent advice about when you were asking which one to buy, if I remember rightly he said you could get support in Chiang Mai.

In your buying thread I was going to recommend that you buy something with good local support. I'm advised that Samsung has the best local support (apparently the CR Apple store sends off to CM and Bkk for tech support - I use both, and they're both excellent but pricey). I didn't give that advice at the time bcs I was sure it would attract naysayers.

If 20baht can't steer you in the right direction, then I'd throw that 2k baht device away and get a brand with local support.

cmjantje,

Sorry, to hear of your tablet trouble. What do you need to have repaired on it?

And, if you don't mind, could you give a bit more detail on the tablet?

I know of the FlyTouch brand. And, would be curious as to the Android version on the tablet (i.e., 2.1 or 2.2). Because, FlyTouch has a history of fake Android versions on their devices. And, sometimes have the old obsolete VIA 8505 chipsets and Android 1.6.

Yes, care must be taken when ordering from China. Especially, Alibaba. Good prices. But, mostly listings by companies wanting to sell large volumes. And, customer service for single buys can sometimes be lengthy.

With Aliexpress, their escrow account system will ensure that you receive an item before Aliexpress will in turn pay the vendor. But, product specifications are sometimes hard to discern in the listings. And, customer feedback needs to be scrutinized. Also, the listings are mostly resellers.

Cheers

It won't unlock. The screen does not react on touching. Yes I agree escrow is more a retailer protection than a customer. I gave them all the proof they wanted and they simply say, not enough to judge. Also the retailer simply refuses to answer questions. I sure hope I can have this tablet repaird and I hope my bank gets the money back. I am sick and tired about that tablet.

Cmj, sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but have you fully charged the tablet/battery. Also, did they provide a user guide/manual?

What are you seeing on the screen?

I can't remember all the details of your buying thread, but Android is a touch screen environment, it's extremely simple to use but does take a bit of practice - like riding a bike. If you already know this, please excuse my impertinence.

cmjantje,

Please try this, if you will?

Usually, a small adapter is included with the tablet. On one end will be a 24 pin male pinout. And, on the other end will be an ethernet port. On one side will be two USB ports.

Plug a USB mouse into one of the two USB ports on the adapter. And, then plug the 24 pin male end into the tablet port.

You can then use the mouse to activate the slide lock.

If successful, then go to the settings/touchpad calibration and try to recalibrate the touchscreen.

(Sometimes, a reset is also necessary to boot up the tablet. There should be a small pinhole on the side of the tablet. Not, the microphone hole. Take something like a paper clip and insert it lightly into the hole. This will turn the power off. Then, you can power up again as normal.)

Also, the small power cable on the backside of the touchscreen may have slipped loose from its attachment. The tablet will have to be opened to reattach this.

Cheers

If you are seeing a green horizontal dash/oblong/arrow slide it with you finger tip in the direction of the arrow.

And that is exactly what does not work, the screen is not reacting. Two times it worked, for 2 to 3 minutes. Then all froze again.

Sorry then Cmj, one of the first results returned when I googled

that model was screen freeze problems, and I'm not an Android technician so I can't say more. Good luck.

This is what I have: http://www.apad.tv/apadforum/forumdisplay.php?22-Technical-Help-for-SP-III-%28Fake-FT3-SP2-Clone%29

Beware!!!!

I cannot be helped because many people with pads like that have exactly the same problem. There is no other solution than sending it back.

Agreed, and if you fiddle around trying to fix it you will make it easier for the manufacturer to say the warranty is invalidated (assuming they provided a warranty). It would be interesting to know how they respond, cheers.

I was given a copy iPhone from Tachilek last year.

It froze up regularly and the only way to fix it was to take the battery out... a royal pain in the butt.

The bottom line is your not going to get something for 2000B that's a copy of a 18,000B product and expect the same results.

Caveat emptor

Oh yes they give one year warranty :whistling:. If only I knew where to send it to. And if, what happens, do I ever get it back? I think I give it to my son to play some, maybe he finds some solutions. One more experience richer.

There is a Thai company that makes the Imobile android phone. I used one for a couple of weeks last month and was pretty impressed with it, especially as it is under half the price of an Apple, Samsung or Nokia equivalent.

I'm told they also make an Android tablet which retails for 8 or 9000 baht, around half the price (or less) of an Apple or Samsung equivalent. There is a kiosk opposite the Apple store in Central which carries that brand. It may well be the best balance of price, quality, reliability and after sales service that you can find here.

I'm taking my monthly break from technology now, so I cannot engage in any more TV banter for the time being, good luck :-)

A quick update - the company is Imobile, the tablet is Inote, and the current retail price is 7.5k baht. And no I don't have any business (or personal) relationship at any point in the supply

chain. Have a good fortnight.

As Samsung have recently released their new 10.1 & 8.9 Tabs you can find the previous 7inch model for around 9000baht at the moment, definitely a better choice than the similar priced Imobile Tab and worth paying the extra instead of a Chinese copy too.
