Anyone Got An Education Visa From Laos Before?

Featured Replies

I'm ready to get my Education Visa from a neighbouring country.

Vientiane in Laos has been recommended to me.

Is it straightforward to get one from there?

How long does it usually take?

When getting an Education Visa is there much paperwork apart from the letter you get from the Thai language school you are studying at?

Can I do it alone or should I go with a Visa Run service?

Would probably fly to Udon and then get a taxi/bus over into Laos.

Also, at what point to I need to state I want a multi-entry?

Many thanks!

I may be wrong but I don't think you can in this location?:ermm:

Next workday issue if apply in morning and only single entry. You can easily do yourself but Udon is a 45 minute drive from the border so best to use van/bus transport I believe.

You need about a half inch of paperwork from the school, all of their credentials, a letter is not sufficient, does not matter what country you apply for it. The school should know this and they should know the proper documents to provide you with. As stated with the proper paperwork hand it in in the morning and pick it up in the afternoon, the following day, most embassies work the same way.

I have done it.

Just bring the bunch of papers that the school gave you.

You will need to fill in a single paper at the embassy.

You dont have to say a single word or worry about anything,

you won't get a multiple re-entry.

On a 2nd thought you DO have to worry:

About the taxi mafia that charges 3-4 times more than in Pattaya.

You also need a photograph, glue provided on tables near the submission windows to stick it to the form. Unless you are first in the queue, plenty of time to complete the form.

There's little or no shelter in the queue outside the consulate - dry season: take a hat/sunscreen, wet season take a brolly.

This is an opportunity to observe some world-class queue jumpers at work.

Perhaps KL, Malaysia, might be easier?

It would be cheaper to fly into KL from BKK than from BKK to Laos.

What is the Embassy and ed visa procedure like in KL?

Thanks for the helpful info so far.

Easier how? The same paperwork will be required anywhere in the area. And cost of flight to Udon is normally less than International (Udon is 45 minute ride to Laos border).

Or take the overnight sleeper from Hua Lumphong to Nong Khai, that's what I did.

I went to Cambodia with Jack Golf , this is not an advert for them and I am sure there are plenty of other agents to go with but they took care of everything for me. Had to wait in the hotel at Poi pet for 2 days.

I know your asking about Laos but it is a different option for you.

Thanks for the Cambodia tip. Prefer to fly rather than get the bus though.

Easier as in transportation. Fly into KL, get taxi to embassy.

Rather than try and make my own way from Udon to Laos.

I also know a friend of mine flew into Singapore and made his ED visa, also had a great holiday at the same time.

Singapore would be good, but hotels might be a bit expensive. I'm trying to do it on the cheap without getting a bus!
