Levels on Thanon Borommaratchachonnani (338) outside Mahidol Golden Jubilee Medical Centre, close to Phuttamonthon, have dropped by about 20cm overnight but are still around 70cm so only trucks can pass. Salaya, on the other side of Mahidol, has seen levels drop by over 30 cm since the Thawi Wattana sluice gate was opened last night. They are now around knee deep, some brave unmodified pickups are going through it although one of two have stalled in unexpectedly deep potholes. There is a fairly strong current flowing into the area from the north however, but that might cease once the level gets below that of the railway (which is fairly dry most of the way into Bangkok now)

Going west towards Nakhom Phatom the current is quite strong heading towards the fully opened sluice gate at Maha Sawat. Further west low lying areas still have up to around 30cm of water but many houses and roads are now dry. The river near Nakhom Chaisi has dropped and many of the houses along the banks are now dry.

If the levels keep dropping at this rate Thanon Borommaratchachonnani should be passable, with care, by early next week.

Chaeng Watthana road between Tesco Lotus and Big C (Soi 14) today open for pick-up trucks and busses.

Also saw one brave guy on a real motorcycle (bike) passing me. Big C and Avenue shopping areas are dry.

In our village (Soi 14) the water in front of our house is still 90cm deep!

Dropping about an inch every day.

There was an announcement that the remaining flood water from Chaeng Watthana road and government complex would be pumped into our village (to make those other areas dry), but people protested against it. They should just pump the water into the Khlong Premprachakorn, the canal along Vipawadee that goes all the way to Bang Sue, where they can pump it into the river. The idea to pump it into a residential area to the North (and not to the South) is bonkers. What's the added value when those government officials can go to "work" easier, anyhow?

Nice report from a fellow Soi 14 resident Blokker. We are down past the lake where the 7-11 and CP Fresh Mart are located. I tried to wade to our business today but had to turn back when the water got roughly 1.2m deep. Outside our house about 200m from Klong Prapha the water is about 60cm and part of our living room floor is dry today for the first time.

Went to see the house on bang weark next to puttamonton sae 2, the water is down to 45cm that end of bang weark and accessible by pickup not cars from seaack tosikan(sae 2) end. Does not appear tohave dropped much if any since then,I think we can move back in wed or thurs with another 150cm drop.

Looks like I spoke too soon, by the news tonight will probably see a 30cm increase, atleast the boat people will be happy. One has to wonder at the gross incomptence of those running the drainage, stuff one area, bow to pressure and stuff another and so on. Probably would have been better to let nature look after it in the first place.

GM Link In the hood. Good report, glad I didn't have to type that 'B' word. I did have to enter: '13.7885 100.3528', though (it's shorter by 6 characters or so).

Hi,

Yesterday at Lam Luk Ka Klong 4, still 75 cm, but the water keep decreasing everyday. Can reach through Raminthra expressway, then take a truck trough the main soi, after, no choice than a boat.

Hope to get dry feet next week

Good luck for all the one who can't reach home for several weeks

Once again, water is moving quickly through Prawet's drainage systems and its main north south khlong. The BMA's map shows rising levels in the khlong. At the khlong's juncture with Chalermprakiat 28 it is down to one lane (as it has been for over a month) as there is a piling machine and tractor which are used to either close off water flow as they did last week when it started to flood, or open it up as they did yesterday.

Here in Bang Bua Thong / Bang Yai the water is decreasing. Has been for ages. But finally we can see parts of the street again (still submerged). According to my gf the road is mostly dry (i havent been out for a while)

I think in this village the water level is now under 30 cm in the streets. Also they have opened some gates wider. I find it criminal that they did not do that before especially because this canal goes to the river. But it passes to parts of west BKK. Still stopping the drain totally is just criminal. It had been shut totally.

The most recent were made yesterday afternoon...

As soon that you are leaving BigC/Big King area, there is still at least one meter of water all around. sad.gif

Any news about Thanon Ngam Won Wang #302 between Sirat Expressway and Don Muang Tollway??

I just talked to our factory manager. Our Factory is located just north of Phet Kasaem between sai 4 and sai 5. Our water levels had been going down (from 70 to 48 cm), but today they went back up 2-3 cm. He was out and around a little, and he said sai 4 was still a mess.

This was actually in response to MaprangHolmes question about sai 4.
