November 22, 201114 yr Yes the Chiang Mai trains are still running. I came down today and was only delayed by about 4 hours. The train route by-passes the flooded areas so hardly any sign of flooding, but also track damage in the north causes additional dalays. Not all trains are running, i.e. only one express train in the evening, but mine was not full so getting seats should not be a problem. PS my friend was delayed BKK - CM by over 8 hours last week!
November 24, 201114 yr As above but note delays as using eastern line then north. Even once the flood waters recede & track becomes open on the north line it will take some time to check and repair track. Check the SRT site for updates before travelling, http://www.railway.co.th/home/ or call them on 1690 (24hrs and english avail). Edited November 24, 201114 yr by Lakegeneve
November 24, 201114 yr I'm wondering if anyone has transported their pets using the train service. I don't mean just one or two. I have more than half a dozen of small breed dogs that I might want to transport them via train if doable. Also, does the train take vehicle too? I'll try to call the number provided by Lakegenve but I'm afraid they won't have the answer for me.
November 24, 201114 yr I just called 1690. The lady on the other end was very polite and courteous. I found out that there's no service for transporting your pets. There's also no service for transporting your vehicle from BKK to CM although It seems they may have service for transporting vehicles to other parts of the country. I did not inquire further.
