Tourist Visa Vs Non Immigrant Visa Ed

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm planing to go back in Bangkok on march to work. I've been in thailand before. Since the Hull has tightened up the rules and I can't get a non imm visa based on visiting friends anymore, I wonder how can I secure myself to basically stay longer just incase I won't find a job. As far as I know I have two options tourist visa wich gives me 60 days and further 30 days extra based on visa run and non imm ED for 1 year with every 90 days visiting immigration office with all types of documents from thai school. My questions are :

1. if I will come on tourist visa do I have to get plane ticket with return date on 60th day or can I get with 90th day?

2.if I will come on tourist visa can I apply for ed visa or it can be done only from my home country?

3. if I will take option number 2 and come on visa ed do I have to get a return ticket or only one way ticket is enough?

4.wich one of those option are easier to get a work permit and non immigrant visa B ?

Last time i came on non imm visa O issued from Hull. Once i got a job i just had to show up on immigration office to confirm my address, however that wasn't a visa B.

Please help guys

Thank you so much for quick response .

1. Very few consulates enforce the requirement of a ticket out of Thailand for the issuance of a tourist visa (the honorary consul in Zurich, Switzerland does)

2. Once you are in Thailand and enrol for study at a Thai language school, you can go to any Thai consulate, ie also in a country neighbouring Thailand, to apply for the non-Ed visa.

3. No return ticket required.

4. You can apply for a work permit after entering Thailand with any type of visa or even without a visa. However, to pick up the work permit once it is ready, you will need to have entered Thailand with a non-B visa, which you can get from a Thai consulate in the region with the receipt for your work permit application and a stack of papers your prospective employer will have to give you.

Many thanks for the answer, anyways one thing makes me wonder why did they give me 90 days extension of stay instead of non immigrant visa b? I didn't get any visa just that stamp and blue work permit book. maybe they had issued that based on my non O.... I'm confused. What does that non immigrant visa B look like?

After entering on a non-O visa you can get a work permit without having to leave Thailand to get a non-B visa. The questions in your first post in this topic were about getting a work permit after entering with a tourist visa or a non-Ed visa, as far as I can see.

If i will enter on non immigrant visa ed can I also get a work permit without having to leave Thailand to get a non-B visa ?

A work permit would not normally be issued on an ED visa.
