Hi, My friends are coming out in a couple of months time.

But their unsure how long they want to stay. One year or bit more, both retired so no visa issues.

Just wondering which airline to advise them to use. Whos reasonable on price for return alterations and to what extent or how long extra is possible?

Many thanks again.

Maximum validity is 12 months so if they are thinking that's the minimum length of time they might stay then they are better off with single tickets.

Otherwise there really is no such thing as a "best" airline for ticket changes, they all vary according to the fare rules that accompany a particular ticket. As a rule of thumb the longer the ticket validity and the lower the flight change penalty the higher the cost of the ticket.

You do not state where they are coming from, or maybe I missed that.

Eva Air do open tickets on their website, and are having a sale at the moment.

If your friends are coming from the UK, and if they prefer direct flights as I do, then the best deal at the moment is with Qantas, not Eva which have strings attached to their promotions. I have just purchased online a ticket with 12 months validity. Though the online calendar on an airline's website may only offer dates up to mid-October 2012 at the moment that's no problem because you can simply contact the airline nearer the date to change your return to a later date but this has to be within 12 months from the outward bound flight.

Considering all the problems QANTAS has had recently I would use BA, but EVA is still a better option in my opinion.

Check out airlinequality.com or even search here to find out what other posters have to say about EVA.

Thai allow free date changes on most of their tickets and their refund amount is on the site. If you book through an agent though the agent will charge high cancellation fees.

Sorry, their coming from UK.

Was looking at Emirate, as Ive used these myself, but not much info on changes or costs.

Think they are talking of 14 months, so lentgh may be a problem then.

Thanks again.

flight changes ,

it depends on what type of ticket you buy,

usually ,the cheaper the ticket ie,cattle classs ,

the less change options are available.

Not a joke but I've noticed Biman Bangladesh are back on the search engines via Heathrow.

Now if their tickets are the same as I used in the past, they were one year tickets with free unlimited changes. I wouldnt fly them out of choice but they are nowhere near as bad as some suggest !! Wait for the links......!!

If they are like the were in the past they need unlimited changes. I know people who went to the airport 7 times to catch a flight on them many years ago...all cancelled.
