The girl who sent me this photo claims it is real. The largest Tokay I have seen was maybe about 12- 14 inches long. Anybody out there see any like this??

Looks fake, you can't hold a heavy reptile like that, his shirt would show the stress of the gripping feet too. I will say they did a good job with the Photoshopping. Good attention to detail of the shadows and both the Tokay and the guy were shot with camera mounted flash.

I use to have a pet Tokay, and I would never let him that close to my face. In fact you had to hold him by the back of the head at all times because they simply hate being held and they bite anything near their face.

I'll be damned. Never thought they got this big and I also thought photoshopped, but looks pretty real now that the mystery has been solved through the link to the Indonesian farm website. :jap:

This thread will soon descend into a series of confused comments by people who do not appreciate the difference between the monitor lizards and the geckos. :(

Saw one crossing a road up country one time, I swear I thought it was a crocodile it was the width of one lane of the road and headed into a klong.

And I wonder sometime if some people do not appreciate the difference between a monitor lizard and a small crocodile.

In our village, in the centre of Bangkok, there are a couple of big lizards living next to a small lake. I have also see them swimming and when you see only the head it can be confusing. I some time wonder if the crocodile some thought they saw in Bangkok were not actually lizards

If real, easily worth a few hundred thousand Baht (so they say anyway) if not more.

:)

What do they taste like? Aroi mai?

Not sure, I'd assume like paper, similar to most other currencies. I usually just waft the scent in.

Ah, the aroma of filthy lucre, even better than durian.

But don't you just hate that plastic Aussie currency, it takes ages to chew up properly.
