Multiple Entry Ed Visa From Kl?

Recommended Posts

I am soon to be going to KL to get my Education Visa.

The school said I can apply for a multiple entry visa at KL but it is up to the discretion of the embassy/consulate if they want to give me one or not.

What do you think my chances are?

What happens if they don't give me one, is there a way to get it changed later on or is there another way to leave the Thailand multiple times on the visa?

Also, does anyone know the turnaround times for a tourist visa in KL?

Thanks!

Visa applications are generally submitted in the morning of one day and collected the afternoon of the following day.

"up to the discretion of the embassy/consulate"

this is true of any consulate anywhere and is a standard clause and not specific to KL.

If they do not grant your ED Visa for whatever reason then probably the only other option available to you based on the information you have supplied here will be a Tourist Visa. You can apply for a double entry which will give you around 6 months in total. Each entry is 60 days and can be extended by another 30 days at immigration. You would have 60 + 30 = 90 days and the same for the second entry.

This would also depend on your Visa history, how many you have already had ( back to back) etc.

I haven't seen any report about getting a multiple-entry non-ED visa in Kuala Lumphur. Consulates in the region give single-entry visas and expect you to get extensions of stay in Thailand with proof that you continue studying.

I've had two non-immigration type O visa back to back for the last two years.

Is there a chance that if I apply for a multiple entry Ed Visa they might refuse the whole visa and not just the multiple entry part?

I thought multiple entry meant I can leave Thailand and come back while I am here on a Ed Visa? With a single entry you cannot leave Thailand and come back into Thailand on the same Ed Visa you left on. Is this wrong? What does multiple entry mean?

I know I will have to get extension of stay every 90 days in Thailand but I didn't know that is what the multiple entry part referred to?

Local consulates might only give single entry visas is what the previous poster is saying.

Multiple entry means you get a visa valid for 1 year. During that year you can travel to Thailand as many times as you like, but you can not stay longer than 90 days. Than you have to elave, but can return the same day (provided the visa is still valid).

Multiple entry for an ED-visa is becomming rare. If a multiple is denied you can get a single ED. The single allows you to stay for 90 days.

An entry on an Ed visa can always be extended at immigration with paperwork from the school, be it single or multiple. (But with a multiple it is not necesarry, as long as the visa is still valid when you plan to return). Once you have an extension of stay you need a re-entry permit to keep your permission to stay alive if you want to leave Thailand. (You must return before the date the extension expires) If not, you need a new ED-visa.
