exeter
On the anniversary of this WW2 attack I have always wondered was it really a surprise attack or was it way to get around the isolationists in the USA and enter the war on the side which it had been supporting with munitions and cash? I would be interested in any opinions particularly from our American cousins ( I am from the UK ). It seems amamzing that the USA did not know that the Japanese fleet had sailed all that way and no one had any idea about it, no intelligence about the fleet sailing? Hard to believe? A fleet of that size was not going to stop at Pearl and go home was it, it was going to go straight to the west coast of the USA. Was it just luck or was it planned that the 3 aircraft carriers were not in port that day? So what do you think of the mystery, genuine surprise attack or excuse to enter hostilities?
