Driving To Malaysia

Featured Replies

Hello Everybody,

I am planning to drive to Malaysia from Phuket sometimes next week! However, I hear many stories of people having to leave their car at the border because the Malaysian Authorities will not allow a Thai registered vehicle to enter Malaysia? Anybody having experience or suggestions about this!

Cheers.........kandt :o:D

I have never done this but do not believe there is a problem if you have ownership papers of vehicle and have insurance. Be aware Malaysia strictly enforces speed limits. Are you sure these people that have trouble have paid for there cars?

I have driven to Malaysia three times but It is a couple of years since I last went.

I had no problems. You should buy insurance if you want to stay legal.

Diesel in Malaysia is very bad quality, very high sulphur content.

Fill up on the thai side and use as little malasian fuel as possible.
