Kidnapped American boy walks free in Philippines

Zamboanga City, Philippines - Muslim militants have freed unharmed an American teenager after five months in captivity in the southern Philippines, a military spokesman said Sunday.

Kevin Lunsmann, 14, was released late Saturday in a remote village in Lamitan City in Basilan province, 900 kilometres south of Manila, according to Lieutenant Colonel Randolph Cabangbang.

Cabangbang said there was no information on whether a ransom was paid.

Suspected al-Qaeda-linked Muslim rebels abducted Lunsmann with his 50-year-old mother and a Filipino cousin on July 12 in Zamboanga City. His mother was freed in October and his cousin last month.
