Best Motorcycle Route To Rayong From Banglamphu

Featured Replies

I am heading to Rayong tomorrow on a motorcycle. I know many of the motorways and some bridges are restricted and cannot be driven on a bike. Can anyone point out roads or places I will need to avoid as I travel from the Khaosan Road area to Rayong?

For example I know the entire ring road around Bangkok, Route 9, is restricted but what about Route 7 south of Chonburi? And someone mentioned a certain bridge that cannot be traversed on a bike -- you have to take a ferry. Does this sound familiar?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sorry I can’t be of any help there AD. So did you get yourself that new toy? Hope to see it one day. :)

Ahoy VF,

Yes I did. The CBR250 with ABS - although not a big Ninja like yours it's still a very nice bike. I finally just went to the U.S. Embassy and paid the $50 for a residency affidavit. The Honda dealer accepted it no questions asked. My Phantom sold on the day we were to leave Chiang Mai. It all worked out pretty well in the end.

I've been driving the bike around Bangkok picking up a nice rack and lockable storage box among other errands and I'm about done having fun that way. Bangkok is a brutal and ugly place to drive. It's bad enough on a moto but how anybody can tolerate driving a car here is beyond my ability to imagine.

When next we get up that way we'll be sure to give you a call.
