Why Is It Hard To Find Leather Products In Thailand ?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I wonder why most of the leather products sold here come from China and why they do not produce them here (it seems).

Do you know any leather handbags and leather wallets wholesalers ? Do you confirm that goods come from China and are not made in Thailand ?

Thanks.

I saw a fb ad yesterday for a place called siam leather or something? No idea of the origin but said custom made so I imagine they don't measure your feet and email the dimensions to china.

Maybe its processed outside the country?

Maybe their cows aint so good ?

Maybe the price is prohibitive and the cheap plastic looks reasonable enough and cheap enough to throw away after a few months

Findig produces leather goods, I think their store is called Udom Agg, there are several in MBK. Its a nationwide chain. I can't figure out how to keep my nice leather stuff from rotting :(

Wax is needed to maintain leather, look at homepro, or even the stuff you clean your leather car seats will do fine...or shine your shoes with...

Thailand has its own tannery's and competes with China for the local Asian market, but most of the very high quality stuff is imported from either Europe or South America.

Leather from South Asian countries are the worst.

The company I work for produces leather products, hence the extra information

Yes you can find FEW leather goods retail shops, but no cheap leather products wholesalers as in China.

Cows are too skinny here :-)

Saddle soap used to be the recommended product

Not sure if it can be found in LOS

They don't eat nearly as much beef in Thailand as places in North and South America, the leather is thinner in Thailand and way more cattle in other countries.

Why do thais eat so much fruit and fish? Now that is a real mystery.
