Government gets poor rating for honesty

The Nation

The Yingluck government's honesty ranked at the bottom in the latest government job approval rating from Dusit Poll.

The government's honesty came in at 5.87 out of a possible 10 and its dedication to the people at 7.08.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra's job approval rating was 6.49, the Cabinet's dedication 6.44, the government's sincerity to work for the people 6.33 and the Cabinet's job approval rating 6.21.

Permanent officials scored 6.13 on independence and the government 6.09 on unity.

The Defence Ministry's job performance was rated at 6.63, the Tourism and Sports Ministry at 6.56, the Public Health Ministry at 6.44, the Agriculture and Cooperative Ministry at 6.43 and the Foreign Ministry at 6.42. The ICT Ministry got the lowest approval at 5.84.

Dusit Poll surveyed 4,238 respondents from December 10-24.

According to Abac Poll, Thais do not yet feel a sense of happiness and do not want to see political conflicts escalate into violence.

The Gross Domestic Happiness survey of 18 provinces across the country from December 10-24 showed that although the happiness index rose in every aspect from economics to social and political, it has not reached standard levels as measured by a score of 100.

The happiness index for economics in terms of enjoying higher income rose from 93.1 in September to 93.4 in December, while happiness from being able to control household expenses climbed from 75.6 to 83.9 and from being able to call for consumer rights from 74.7 to 77.8.

In the social aspect, Thais were happy to see the country's strong portrayal of loyalty to the monarchy and strong family relationships with the index improving from 162.7 in September to 175.4 in December.

Thais were not happy in every political aspect although the scores were better than in September's survey. The government's policies rated 96.6 in happiness and its disaster prevention and solution at 99.3, while the police's performance in protecting public property rated 98.9 and in terms of the government's performance, the index was at 90.

Thais were not happy with the way opposition MPs and local politicians behave and work and they were not happy with the quality of politicians at the national level.

Prime Minister Yingluck yesterday wished all Thais a happy and healthy New Year.

Laughable !

In a previous thread, in this forum, based on the same poll :

People satisfied with PM's determination on job: Suan Dusit Poll

BANGKOK, Dec 25 – Poll respondents gave Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra a rating of 7.08 out of 10 for her willingness and determination on the job, according to an opinion survey, conducted by Suan Dusit Rajabhat University.

http://www.thaivisa....uan-dusit-poll/

But anyway you look at it, a note above 5 means a job above average. Also that a majority of people are satisfied with the government because if a majority of the people who answered this poll were dissatisfied with the government we would have a note below 5.

So whatever the spin you put in it, the intelligent reader will understand that the current government still has the trust of the people. And actually, despite whatever people may say, they are more happy with the government than they were in September, proving against all critics, that the PM is doing a good job !

And they are totally not happy with Abhisit and his negative and destructive attitude in crisis time (last lines of the articles for people who can pass beyond the headline)

The other thing we learn from this article is that The Nation is horribly biased. But we don't really need a poll to know that rolleyes.gif

Who is surprised? PT stated motto is "Thaksin Thinks, Puea Thai Acts" Thaksin is an incessent liar, so lying in endemic to current gov't heads. Plus, the gov't finds that the Thai public either believes their lies or tolerates them, similar to how Thais can tolerate loud noises without a care.

Right at the end of the article

"Thais were not happy with the way opposition MPs and local politicians behave and work and they were not happy with the quality of politicians at the national level".

But I don't suppose we'd get a headline like this

"Thais not impressed by Performance of Democrat Party Opposition"

I take it that you found nothing positive in the article regarding the Government performance?

A nonsensical article that is just the usual Nation mantra of PM Yingluck bad, blah blah blah.

Had the Nation been keen on offering an intelligent discussion of the results it would have put the results into context by comparing the results with previous governments subsequent to a national catastrophe. The results posted mean nothing because there is nothing to compare the results to, nor are the scales and methodology clearly explained. I'd be willing to explain data analysis to the Nation editors, but I have a feeling that any attempt to discuss the fundamentals of quantitative mathematical analysis or statistics might overwhelm their intellectual capacity.

context would have been nice... +1

This post indicates that you think Abhisit was honest. It also indicates you think other Thai politicians before Thaksin were honest. Does this include Chalerm, Samak? And the others? Since when are politicians honest? Where does this level of naivety come from? Were you born yesterday? Politicians at the national level in most countries are not honest. Their jobs are about being dishonest. Show me an honest politician at the national level, anywhere in the world. The days of the Anwar Sadats of the world may be behind us.

I am quite surprised that the numbers were this high...

Government's honesty = 58.7 %

Dedication to the people at 70.8.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra's job approval rating: 64.9%

Cabinet's dedication: 64.4 %

Government's sincerity to work for the people: 63.3 %

Cabinet's job approval rating: 62.1%

Whether or not the current government is deserving of these nunbers, I will leave to thers, but most politicians in the West would kill for those kind of numbers...

Its absurd to use the words 'honesty' and 'Yingluck' in the same sentence. Erase the lead story and start again please.

Do you have any evidence or even any reports of her dishonesty ???

Any example of any kind of proven or even alleged dishonesty ???

Any ??

Yes. She has an outstanding perjury case against her when she lied about ownership of some shares.

Next question.

That's not quite true, is it.

There is an allegation of perjury from Tul Sitthisomwong from last June, which seems not have gone forwards in any way.

That is not quite the same as an outstanding case, is it ??

Is it an "outstanding or pending case " in any court ??

Perhaps you could confirm.

Notable that the allegation is made by "The Network against Amnesty for Thaksin", a clearly impartial group..................

Throw enough mud in desperation, I suppose

"... if the allegation was found to be insubstantial, the case would be closed immediately".

The case has not been closed which is not quite the same as being dismissed.

Actually I did read the article. That was not the last line in the article. Are you sure you read it.

Hear is the line you are refering to.

quote

"Thais were not happy with the way opposition MPs and local politicians behave and work and they were not happy with the quality of politicians at the national level."

Now you can rewrite that any way you like but I read it as they are not happy with the way oppositions is behaving nor are they happy with their local politicians or the ones at the National level. Let us not forget that 265 of the ones at the national level are PT

And I would call a rating of 5.87 on a scale of 10 for honest by a government both shameful and disgusting.

In my opinion only a extremely biased person would call that good.

And in other astounding news today it was revealed in a survey of 400 participants that... : "Next Summer is 88% likely to be hot!".

giggle.gif

What I have never understood with all these polls, is who is it that are asked the questions? A poll is meant to be taken across the class barriers; where do they get the people to answer these indicators?
