Appeal for help as child is sent home to die in Sattahip

SATTAHIP: -- As many celebrate the festive season, there is one family in Sattahip District who are desperate for assistance to help a family member who will surely die if help is not forthcoming. Nopagon is aged 2 years and 7 months and is suffering from Hydrocephalus, a neurological condition where there is an accumulation of excess cerebrospinal fluid within the brain ventricles and results in the enlargement of the head to the point where death can occur unless the fluid is drained. Two hospitals have been involved in Nopagon’s care, the 10km Hospital in Sattahip and the Chonburi Central Hospital who both claim they are unable to help the child who was sent home to die. The family is now desperate for help and the child’s mother, Khun Amporn aged 44, who has three other children to take care of, is looking for someone to assist medically. Although she is not asking for money, she appreciates any treatment outside of the government-run Hospital system will cost money. The Thai Red Cross Society are now aware of the case and are providing some assistance after the story was featured in a popular Thai National newspaper,
