Return Flight?

Featured Replies

I am currently in Thailand on a 30 day tourist stamp, my B visa expired. I will be in Honolulu in a few weeks. Do I need to provide return flight information to get on the flight back to Thailand? My plan is to apply for an ED visa upon arrival.

Thanks in advance

If you intend to re-enter Thailand on a 30 day visa exempt entry, some airlines will not let you board your flight unless you have an onward ticket out of Thailand during the 30 days. It does not have to be a return to your origin, just a "cheap" ticket to a neighboring couny, like Hat Yai to KL.

Thank you for the information. I'll book a cheap flight out now.

You cannot get a ED-visa on arrival or in Thailand itself. For that you will have to go abroad and apply at aThai consulate, with paperwork from the school.

If you have the paperwork, it might be best to apply fro the ED-visa right away. Otherwise use the ticket to apply ina neighbouring country.

Yes. I am trying to get the school to expedite the paperwork, just want to be well armed if it is late. Thanks for the quick replies.

Shot

If you do manage to get all of your paperwork from the school, you could apply for you ED visa at the consulate in Hawaii.

Thats what I'm hoping for, and it would save me the expense and dreaded trip to KL.

Thanks again for all the good info.

You don't have to go to KL, you could do it in Laos or Cambodia. That was just my suggestion for a cheap flight.

licklips.gif Just a thought.

As I understand it, you are still in Thailand, but must leave soon for Hawaii.

You could apply for a single-entry Thai tourist visa there in Hawaii.

Then you would have 60 days in Thailand to apply for a ED visa here in Thailand.

Actually you don't get an ED visa here in Thailand...what you do is change your toursist visa to a Ed visa and get an extension based on the info from your school.

I believe (but i could be mistaken, wouldn't be the first time) all that can be done in Thailand.

That tourist visa would eliminate the need to have an out-of-country ticket from the airlines and being able to convert it into a Ed visa with extension in Thailand would mean that you don't have to go out of country to get it.

The Thai consulate in Hawaii should be able to tell you.

If it is possible, it would seem to save you time and money doing it that way.

Generally speaking you cannot convert from a visa exempt entry/torurist visa to an ED-visa and have to apply for a ED-visa abroad. Even Bangkok will not do this.

That’s a great idea, if I can convert the 60 day into an ED, and like you said, save me time and money. Certainly worth looking at.

I appreciate you thoughts IMA
