Night Vision Mono/Binoculars

Featured Replies

As the title says I'm looking for night vision mono/binoculars. Nothing fancy, anything from 2 x 20 will do.

I do not know what type they sell but as you go up the right hand escalator in BigC Extra on Pattaya Klang there is a stall that sells a reasonable variety of binoculars.

Yep, I know which one you mean, and there is one in Central too. I'll ask them if they sell night vision stuff.

These items are illegal in many country's and I think Thailand is one of them. However i bought one some years ago at one of those stands on the 3rd floor in Royal garden. If you're lucky they are still available.

I've seen u.s. made an/pvs-5a on sale at Chatuchak Market oct, 2009. Probably stolen from thai army in sakon nakon.

Why should they be illegal? This is off-the-shelf stuff you can get anywhere.

Because they are reserved for army use.And with of the shelf anywhere, you probably mean anywhere in Thailand.

You also can get fake passports of the shelf in Thailand, just doesn't make it legal.

You're suggesting that they are reserved for army use in Thailand and therefor banned. Is this something you know for a fact? By anywhere I mean anywhere on the planet.

There's certainly no lack of websites where they can be ordered from:

I have no knowledge of whether they are illegal in Thailand, but that was my first feeling. Practically anything that could be used in covert actions is illegal here. Technically, my Garmin Nuvi 885 GPS that came from the States is illegal, becasue it contains and FM transmitter (for transmitting voice commands through the car radio). Walkie talkies are illegal, though I have seen toy ones for sale at Lotus. the government has complete control over the mobile phone system (can turn it off at a moments notice), but cannot contro two-way radios. Guns and ammo are tightly controlled and so damned expensive that few people could afford them anyway. Were I a betting man, my bet is that night vision equipment is illegal here. I am a betting man. Anybody want to take the bet?
