Gym Suggestions - Hangdong Area

Hi, can anyone recommend any gyms in the Hangdong area, I live in the World club mooban of Grace Intl school (GIS)

I had read online about California gym in Airport plaza, went to check it out but, really did not like the general manager (GM) there

The staff first told me it was a monthly fee of 3,500bt which was a fixed price for everybody, I said this was over my budget, then they called the GM and she was quite rude and offered me 1,500bt/month, but due to the way she rudely offered it to me, I got up and left, they were quite pushy and almost had me pinned to the seat, it was difficult for me to make an exit!. (and so the 3,500bt is not fixed price after all!)

Anyhows, am now looking for other gyms close to me

Went to ask at GIS, but the landowners of World Club moo baan, apparently sold the gym to GIS, (even though at the time my husband's family bought the house in this moo ban they were promised lifetime membership at this gym - then they revoke this promise/membership -welcome to Thai laws)

So , back to square one...still looking for gyms as need to exercise!

P.S Just out of curiosity, has California gym had a 're-fitting' ? as I seem to remember it looking different/much bigger a couple of yrs ago?

Hi

You can try Home In Park and Roong Aroon 3 both off the irrigation canal road south of the Sameong junction. Understand they have fitness centres and swimming pools.

GIS has impressive workout facilities. Are you sure that you can't get access somehow? It'd be a real shame if you couldn't. sad.png

There's a workout room and pool in Khwan Wiang 2, just a few kilometers east the Samoeng road from World Club. It has stationary bikes, treadmills, an elliptical machine or two, a weight machine and some free weights.

On the plus side, parking is plentiful and admission is cheap at around 40 baht/workout - quite unlike Airport Plaza. You can by a pass that further cuts the cost of access. Nuu, the owner, is a nice person to deal with. Lots of snacks and drinks. The pool and the equipment are serviceable for the most part.

Downsides: there are fans but no air conditioning, so the room is not very usable during the day when it's hot. The facility overall feels a bit run down. Also, it's hard to know when it will be open during the early morning and late evening. But as long as you're not an early/late workout type of person, the owner is usually there between 9AM and 7 PM.

I should qualify what I've said by mentioning that I haven't personally used the workout room in Khwan Wiang for a couple years. I do know that the workout room is still there and that the ownership hasn't changed. But the information I've given here might be outdated in other respects.

Here's a link to Google maps, showing you the location of the clubhouse and gym:

I think that California Wow did downsize perhaps a year or two ago, but I could be wrong.

Cheers,

You could take a look at the gym/swimming pool/sauna at Kwan Wiang Clubhouse. It's not far from World club, 1.5km.

I've used it myself a few times and would recommend it to anyone who dislikes the atmosphere of busier places.

I think the fee is 50baht per day

So far, I have just been jogging around my muu baan as an exercise fix. Going to Malaysia for a new visa, so will post about my findings when I return :)
