Driver lucky to escape as car bursts into flames close to Pattaya

PATTAYA: -- There was traffic chaos on a major road leading to the Pattaya-Utapao Airport on Monday, caused by a car fire. Reports came in of the Blue Toyota Corolla which had burst into flames on the side of Highway 8. The car owner, Khun Boonlert aged 40, who works at the Airport, managed to exit the car seconds before the fire started. Fire Fighters soon arrived and were able to quickly extinguish the flames while the driver, Khun Boonlert, who revealed that he had borrowed the car from his Brother’s friend, explained how the car suddenly lost power as he drove to work, so he decided to pull to the side of the road and assumed he had ran out of petrol. He sent someone to purchase petrol for him and while he was waiting, attempted to start the engine.
