hi guys, yes a web site, anyone out there know of a company who's trustworthy to be able to build a website, that's for want of a better description 'the dogs <deleted>', design wise i can do it, technical side i can't, it needs to be in the top 20 of someones search, to be able for customers to leave messages, comments, really to cover all bases and options. thanks

There are scores of website hosters availible online. Officelive for example and there are also a few extremely good free website domains availible if you know where to look.

If you have no knowledge of how to set up a website, or the strorage space and bandwidths required, the need to use the services of someone or a company to maintain it for you, than it`s going to cost you thousands and thousands of bahts for the privilage of owning a website.

If money is no object, than fine, otherwise my advice is; learn to create and maintain a website yourself. It`s easier than you may think and of course, practice makes perfect.

I suggest you start off with some realistic expectations and do a lot more research. You are competing with millions who almost certainly have more knowledge and probably a bigger budget. This is the equivalent of someone posting "how do I start a business". You have not provided enough details for anyone to make a valuable contribution.

Then about being "in the top 20" this usually about a year, more or less, or even can never be achieved depending on the keywords for which you want to get ranked in the top 20.

Buy a domain from any registration site, then host it SEPARATELY with someone who offers Wordpress. It's mainly for blogs but you can also build a standard site with it and they have loads of templates. Either that or go free with Google Sites (if you don't mind having G In the URL). But go WYSIWYG as you don't need to learn much about coding. Also, don't have any expectations about getting right up there quickly, unless a unique idea (and you'd probably be sandboxed anyway if it did), as the competition is massive. Webmasterworld.com is a good resource.

Also, have in mind building a site with useful info and with the user in mind, avoiding black-hat techniques, link farms, etc, as it'll get swatted at some point. Update daily and keep at it and it'll get noticed eventually.

The "top 20" (Google I guess) is more to do with SEO (Search Engine Optomisation) than web design. SEO is expensive - get the wrong people and they will happily get you up there, for a few days until Google catches the bad back links and blackhat tricks and blacklists your site. Free domains often are actually sub-domains or have a fixed domain name you can use a folder from as a second qualifier (e.g. http:\\www.freehost.com\doppasSite.htm) which looks very unprofessional and can suffer from the same blacklisting because of the shared domain - hosting can be had with domains very cheapily, some even come with website builders and Wordpress templates to get you started. Save your money on dev and spend it on good SEO if you can - learn and play with wordpress templates - basically you just fill in the blanks and make a banner (you can offer a prize on Freelancer.com of say $200 and you will get dozens of banner/logo entries that will all belong to you for the $200 prize) - or some cheapo Indian compnay will bodge you a whole site for about the same (then you just need to hire someone to fix all the bugs!)
