Modeling In Thailand?

Featured Replies

Past times when i visited pattaya I was treated the same. I would assume its the age. Random photos in isaan, plenty of grabbing/kissing/pinching. Annoying but amusing. That's when i was in my mid-twenties.

Your probably right isaan. I have a younger brother & he doesn't seem to be getting the same attention as I am though.

My older brother who is 26 was offered to model & to be a presenter on tv but refused the offer. Only if he could read Thai..

Just to let the OP know, he IS a Thai national by virtue of being born to a Thai citizen.

That is the only way he can get automatic work rights in Thailand.

Being under 20, it is also the way he can automatically participate in the Military draft, compulsory for all Thai men under 30

Guess he never thought of that.

I have a friend, an older, but dapper looking American who did modeling in Bangkok. It was a big help that he speaks Thai well, because he ended up in some film roles, playing the farang "heavy" -- usually some kind of gangster boss.

He taught English and had many students comment on his looks. He interviewed several modeling agencies and found one willing to help him put together a portfolio. That got him on the road to bookings.

He worked hard at this. He showed up early for assignments, stayed late, was always pleasant. Once he started doing films and TV ads, he always knew his lines. Often he was expected to provide his own wardrobe for the films and even the TV ads.

I've never known him to have the sort of attitude expressed by the OP. He considered himself blessed that his looks appealled to the Thai people and was humble about it.

I believe after my colleague 7by7 has given the most sensible advise - look for a casting agency - we can close this topic before we get more not-so-sensible advises.
