PATTAYA: -- A uniformed and armed Civil Defense Volunteer was arrested by Tourist Police officers in South Pattaya on Wednesday Night on the strength of an arrest warrant accusing the man of stealing a motorbike in front of the Tourist Police Station.

Armed with arrest warrant number 46/2555 dated 25th January and issued by the Pattaya Provincial Court, Khun Niroot aged 34 was arrested in front of the Krung Thai Bank on the South Pattaya Road. At the time, he was in full uniform and wearing a holstered firearm and body armor. He was also in possession of a motorbike which is alleged to have been stolen from the station, as captured on the station’s external security cameras. Khun Niroot was taken to the station and although he was able to produce a license for the firearm, it does not permit him to carry the weapon in public.

He was also carrying a two-way radio which was unlicensed and was wearing body armor which cannot be worn by civilians without the correct paperwork. Khun Niroot, who works closely with Pattaya Police and is known to have worked with the Tourist Police in the past, was charged with auto-theft, possession of a firearm in a public place, possession of an unlicensed two-way radio and for wearing the body armor.
