Just getting used to admit to being American again. While Bush was in office, I told everyone I was Canadian to avoid being a target. Not easy with a Texas drawl.

Lucky you didn't meet any Celine Dion haters then. They're out there too. biggrin.png

I have known for all my life that the Good Ole USA is the greatest country in the world. Judging by the constant influx of immigrants this must also be the world’s view. It is time for Americans to grow up… The up and coming Presidential Election is reducing most Americans to the level of ill-mannered children. Realize not everyone in the world has the same opinion of US President Barack Hussein Obama. We should be allowed to express our viewpoint of whom we choose to represent our country..................

Sounds a bit arrogant don't you think? These days, the poorest access to health care in the western world, among the highest incarceration rates in the entire world, massive unemployment, economic inequality worse than Thailand ... I could go on. Best to see things clearly.

You should visit. Especially if you're in the market for junk bond level real estate. They're practically giving it away!

Nah its just a jolly for a few days. Sightseeing stuff by day and good pizza by night. NY style best in the city and a place for quality deep dish please.

My hotel will have a gym and pool no need to worry.

Where do American's get together in Bangkok to discuss the condition of their country?

I thought that was one of the more compelling reasons for not living in the US ... avoiding gatherings of Americans and especially not being subjected to political rhetoric (i.e. bombastic rubbish) 24/7.

I live in Phuket and there just aren't many Americans around. As an Irish Catholic boy from Boston, you guess where my politic heart lies. With many ex cop/military here and Fox noise being the only source of US TV political news, I leave politics alone when I meet a fellow American. I'd love to discuss the ridiculous soap opera the Republican primary has become but I have to walk away from the racist rants or punch someone. Talk about sports, it's less confrontational.

And you're doing such a good job of avoiding Americans on this forum...

The Americans who have the time to holiday in Thailand don't have the money and the ones with money are busy working. The ones you meet are most likely overseas workers and merchant seaman.

You must go. It's a wonderful country and the people are really great. They're a bit like beer. Great where it's brewed but some of it doesn't travel too well ph34r.png
