Opposition Leader Denies Plan to Topple Government

BANGKOK: -- The opposition party leader insists that he never has any idea to overthrow the government.

He also advises the government to focus more on its work and warns the Nitirat group against being used as a political tool.

Democrat Party Leader Abhisit Vejjajiva pointed out that the government should focus on its work, instead of worrying about speculation that there is a plot to overthrow it.

He pointed out that the government has an overwhelming majority in the House of Representatives so there is no way it can be toppled.

However, he said if the government is not able to resolve social conflicts, the public may come out to protest.

The Opposition leader went on to comment about the Nitirat group that its action has offended a large part of the population.

He said it cannot be denied that the group is linked to the red-shirt group.

He advised the group to stop its movement to amend the lese majeste law to lessen the increasing social divide.

Abhisit also commented on former PM Thaksin Shinawatra's phone interview yesterday stating Thailand will become wealthy if all of its political conflicts are terminated.

The Democrat leader stated that Thaksin is actually the cause of all the political conflicts seen right now.

He added that Thais have the right to present their opinions within the confine of law.

He also warned the Nitirat group that it may be used as a political tool.

Sounds like a planted rumuor? The nature of politics is you are always going to get smoke and mirrors. If anyone was going to topple a government it would be the military, and that won't happen unless the government really steps out of line?

Thailand is already wealthy without Taksins steerage. Again misinformation to cause confusion.

The best reconciliation is for people to put the past behind them and get on with their lives. For the government to create a fair and law abiding society so that people can get on with their lives, prosper and live without intimidation and fear. The only 'reconciliation' I have seen so far is to reward those who terrorized, intimidated and broke the law before. This does not seem fair to those who did obey the law and respected the wishes and rights of others?

Of course Yingluck is not serving a particular cause or person is she .She isn't on a nodding acquittance with the truth either is she ?

Then we have the crusader Chalerm who has a somewhat biased view on the character of his idol and puppet master,

An administration staffed with renegades from the law, part time terrorists and proponents of wholesale acts of arson.Nepotism and crony-ism rules as well.

Hardly a savoury bunch of lily white characters is it ?

.All of them born again manipulators of the truth.

Indeed a fine catch ere the devil cast his net.

This article is further proof, if any were needed, that the previous PM is a liar and a fraud, and is serving interests other than his party's.

A liar condems the others as liars.

Mr.T. condems Abhisit as a Hitler.

Your are in the same boat?

So what lies did he say in this report?

Is it that he used the words "the government" and "overwhelming majority" in one and the same sentence?

I totally agree. He's still crying about being voted out by a large margin. I have to wonder what makes him think people actually care what he says. He truly wants to be a player, but he's a washed up, has been. He didn't do anything but talk when he was in office and yet, he tries to tell Yingluck how to run the government. Comical indeed.

Thats; just your opinion, many could disagree.

POLITICS

'Plot' rumours are govt fiction : Democrats

THE NATION

30174822-01_big.jpg

BANGKOK: -- The opposition Democrat Party yesterday cast doubt on the mysterious so-called plot to overthrow the government, as concocted by some Pheu Thai Party figures, saying it was a fiction that could further fractionalise society.

Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva said the claim was a "political tale" aimed at convincing the public that there was a movement to bring down the government.

With majority control of the House, the government was not under threat, he said.

The government should avoid stirring up social conflict that could lead to street violence, he added.

Democrat spokesman Chavanont Intarakomalsut said the story lacked "truth and substance" and would only lead to undermining the country's economic and political stability.

He also threatened to take legal action against the government figures making the claim.

Pheu Thai spokesman Prompong Nopparit and deputy government spokesman Anusorn Iamsa-ard, who is also from the ruling party, earlier had said four groups from business, academia, the military and mass media were planning to topple the Pheu Thai-led government.

Deputy Prime Minister Yuthasak Sasiprapha said he knew nothing of the claim and he had received no reports about it.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said she treated such an issue as a political matter.

"she treated such an issue as a political matter"

No Shit, Sherlock !

So what is she proposing to do as PM, about her party's spokesmens' statements, ask them for further-details or tell them to <deleted>, and stop spreading rumours ? Or does she not 'do' political matters ? dry.png

Really?

How many people are on the 300B minimum wage?

How many grads are on 15,000B per month?

How many pupils have tablet PCs?

How many rice farmers have received 15,000B per tonne of rice?

How many flood prevention measures have been implemented?

Talk, talk, talk......

It was only last November the great rumour monger Jatupon announced there was a plot to overthrow the government in early December. nothing happened.

i don't know if Yingluk is under great stress at the moment but her pronunciation of Thai words seems to be going seriously astray, according to a colleague, in responding to a query as to the safety of Bhumipol dam, she said there was no need to worry as it was made of khor-n-ka- reet, (คอ- น- ก- รืด) when of course she should have read it as khonkreet (คอนกรีด) -concrete.

Oh dear!

Of course the democrats have no plan to topple the government, who had this ridiculous idea ?

In this political world, there are predators and scavengers. It's a well known fact that democrats are scavengers. They will wait for someone else to do the killing (PAD or the military) then they will circle the remains to get a piece of the loot. That what they always did. And as long as we don't have new faces at the top, why should we expect any change ?

The Democrat Party never drops any plan to topple a government. Together with the royalists they use the justice system (Which justice?) to grab power. They have no choice either as they lost all previous elections and will continue to do so.Soon they will use the fact that all the old men will die as an excuse to grab power from the people again. When someone would make a comment about that she will end up in jail for a long time waiting for a promised amnesty that will never come.

Or they may not. rolleyes.gif

This would spell the end of Thaksin, I think. If and when people demonstrate on the streets against the government, the Red Shirts will lay into them violently, which will lead to more demonstrations and violence.

PM clone and chalerm will bring it down on their own,

“We have received confirmation from all sources that the rumor of a coup is not true. The rumor was spread by some faction, but it is not true.” - Thaksin Shinawatra - His first statement while in New York, following the news of the 2006 coup.

"I came here as prime minister but left as an unemployed man," - Thaksin Shinawatra said while leaving New York after he was deposed as interim prime minister in the 2006 Thailand coup d'état while he was at the United Nations headquarters.
