True Adsl Central Bangkok-Have You Noticed A Marked Decline In Line Quality?

Apologies for slightly repeating a post made within another thread in the computer forum, but I wanted to find out if people in BKK on True 7Mb/.512 package are generally experiencing these problems. I'm in Sukhumvit close to Asoke.

I've recently noticed a huge decline in quality of my True line, specifically in capacity to stream TV. Now unable to do so 90% of the time , formerly worked pretty much 100%.

(full details http://www.thaivisa....-same-problems/ post #11)

Measuring on pingtest.net shows really large packet loss and jitter, and the line is graded "F" - "Very poor. Real time internet function performance will suffer greatly on such a connection"

I attribute the failure to stream properly to this. Measurements I took over the last three days are consistent, and the latest ones are below.

Is anyone else experiencing this, and could someone more knowledgeable than I comment on possible causes, and the likelihood of True being able to correct the problem?

Cheers

Fully agree, true has become a marketing gimmick now. Their services have taken a steady decline over the last 3 years to be specific - be it UBC / Internet / Phone.

Equally declining has been their CS department, it feels they have robot talking out of programmed scripts sitting in a call center !

I have 1 month 7 days exactly remaining on my True acct, and will be moving to TOT asap !

Good luck if you think ToT will be any different/better... methinks you are in for a dissapointment.

My expereinces with ToT is they are twice the price, half the quality of True. I've had true internet conenctions, ranging from low speed ADSL to high speed cable over the last 9 years... and for me, i will be sticking to True whenever possible.

Their CS sucks, i totaly agree, you have to work quite hard to actually get through to anyone who knows one end of a telephone from the other, it can be very frustrating if you are trying to troubleshoot a problem, i normally take the mobile number of the engineer who comes to install and go directly back to him if i get a problem, a little tip every now and then goes a long way to ensuring the Engineer will help you ;)

True phone service is 'ok' i find the voice service adequate but their data service outstanding.

True TV/UBC/Etc - i dont use it, so i cant comment on anything except the price structure, which i find expensive, but whats the alternative? Download or 'dodgy' cable tv.

I have cable internet with True, and apart from the occasional annoying 'modem reboot that takes 30mins to get a stable signal' its flawless... fast, reliable, cheap and appears unrestricted (in terms of torrents etc)

I had ToT internet at an apartment i had a few years back, and let me tell you i paid over twice as much as the equivelent True connection, and my connection out of Thailand was cr@p at best.

My only recomendation/advice would be if your contract is about to expire, see if you can get Cable internet instead of ADSL.

Thanks but I didn't mention in this post ( though I did in the thread I linked to) that I'm actually (temporarily I presume) able to access a TOT line by wifi that must be in an adjoining building.

It's also a 7Mb down line. It consistently gets D grade on the pingtests, and streaming works perfectly on it at the same time as my True stream is frozen up completely. I can literally flip from True- frozen to TOT-starts up again, to True -freezes again to TOT starts again in the space of 10min.

This is while the TOT line is giving me slower speeds (0.6-0.9mbps) than the True (1-2 mbps).

So I'm blaming line quality rather than speed. Plus this is a new problem--True worked well on this site for two months before collapsing.

Of course I can't tell where this TOT line is, and undoubtedly if I change to TOT, as I'm considering, Sod's law dictates that it will indeed prove to be worse.

However for now this practical test shows it works better, whereas True just doesn't function to stream from this site anymore.

Added: also a quick scan of related threads here seems to suggest that True cable in this area is oversubscribed and congested with some reporting their ADSL works better!

We were suffering the same thing as OP a few days ago. True 6Mb connection. Have no other real choice. Seems to be better today.

And we are out in Ram Inthra/Khannayao.

I have the same 7/.5 circuit and connection was very erratic with frequent disconnects for more than a week but last two days has been solid connection at normal speed. Just took below B and C and C* grade to Singapore and Europe and San Fran.

Am in Latphao area of Bangkok.

Thanks for posting those results-makes it easy to compare with mine. I just did these a few minutes ago. Looks like I am getting acceptable quality for the moment too, although it is always better during the day, I've rarely got C to anywhere in the US.

I have been in touch with True, but they just repeat 'an engineer will contact you as soon as possible' and then nothing at all is done. This has been going on since Jan 4th when I first noticed the deterioration.

Don't really know whether to keep calling them or not. I suppose they hope if they do nothing for long enough I might give up. I don't like to encourage this approach to customer service, but if my results stay around these levels I suppose I can't expect much better...
