Chiang Mai To Savannakhet Vip Bus

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have several posts on this and im really struggling, i know its very simple once you've done it once but after hours of searching im really confused from all the information. Anyway i need to go in 2 weeks so i really need to book a bus asap. Ill figure out all the other stuff after booking the bus but heres what i need and i would be so grateful if someone could help or point me in the right direction.

Where can i go in Chiang Mai to book a VIP bus to get me to Savannakhet (Now it may not be direct to there but from what i read you dont need to book the other transportation in advance)

I have to get a double entry tourist visa issues although ill settle for a single entry at this stage, whats the latest i can get to the thai embassy to ensure i can get the visa issued by the next afternoon. I only need to know so i can get the right bus schedule.

Finally how long of a trip is the bus Journey.

If someone can just answer the first question on where to book the bus ill be over the moon, i really did search hard and have about 20 tabs open right now but not many cover Chiang Mai to Savannakhet. I dont like flying so i would rather do the bus.

I promise in return when i get everything sorted i will write a newbie guide for Chiang Mai to Savannakhet and my experience.

I don't have any answers but if it was me I would start off by going up to the Arcade bus station and looking around to see what they have to offer.

Or many of the travel agents can steer you rite.

Ok great, sounds like somewhere to start. I thought the VIP companys were like separate from the standard buses but i honestly dont know a lot about it, i thought about going to a travel agent but wasnt sure if they would just stick me on some mini van, one of the other threads was a recommendation for a company/agent but no luck so far. Ill go look around a few tomorrow and update this thread

No; 'VIP' is a bus seating layout; typically with 32 reclining seats. With any bus in Thaland, you want to make sure you get it from the regular, government regulared bus stations such as the Arcade station in Chiang Mai. The bus will be operated by a private company, or, in case of the "Transport Company' buses, a government run company.

As for the actual trip to Laos, Savannakhet is across the border from Mukdahan.. not sure if there is a bus direct to there; you may have to connect in Khon Kaen. But there are direct VIP buses to Khon Kaen from Chiang Mai.
