Buttermilk

Featured Replies

Any of you fine discerning gentlemen of superior taste spot any buttermilk? I am in the mood to whip up some southern biscuits and I refuse to buy them from some expat dump for 100 baht each.

If you're in Bangkok they have it (or did) in Villa near soi 33. I'm guessing they have it in all branches, and there's a good chance Foodland also stock it.

You can easily make a buttermilk substitute which works just as well. Take 450 ml of full fat milk. Add the juice of half a lime or a tablespoon of vinegar. Stir. Wait 5 minutes. Et voilà. Much cheaper here in Thailand, too, than the real thing.
