THE GOVERNMENT HAS SET IMPORTANT SUBJETS TO URGENTLY IMPLEMENT NEXT YEAR

The government has set energy conservation, tourism, prices of agricultural products, and mega-projects as the key plans for urgent implementation next year.

Government Spokesperson SURAPONG SUEBWONGLEE (สุรพงษ์ สืบวงศ์ลี) reported the result of the meeting between Prime Minister THAKSIN SHINAWATRA and the Cabinet. He revealed the four main subjects that the Cabinet should give importance to. The first subject is to promote measures to conserve energy and to use alternative energy. The premier also wants the Cabinet to take tourism into consideration, following the tsunami aftermath. The third topic concerns with the supervision of agricultural product prices. The Prime Minister has assigned the Commerce Ministry and the Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry to look after the prices. Moreover, the premier is giving importance to the government’s mega-projects that will be implemented next year.

The Government Spokesperson added that the Prime Minister has also assigned the National Economics and Social Development Board to set the time for further discussion between the premier and other agencies on these issues.

:o

What is this supposed to mean? Making sure prices stay low, and farm workers will continue to work for 100-200Bt per day? :D

The premier also wants the Cabinet to take tourism into consideration, following the tsunami aftermath. Maybe they missed the boat; the tsunami affected areas have been crying out all year for real government assistance and decent coverage of recovery- efforts.
