Thai Friendly Areas Of Singapore

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Apart from Beach Road area, is there anywhere else in Singapore that has a good Thai community?

I'm moving to Singapore soon and would like to invite my TG along at some point, but would like her to feel a little more comfortable being around Thai people she can make friends with etc.

Thanks!

I think it's Scotts Road that has the Newton Centre in it which is where the Thai market is.

Orchard Tower has many Thai girls working. Not trying to be funny. The place is full of bars with the Thai working girls.

Cool, Scotts Road and Orchard area are not too far apart (unless my scale of Singapore maps is way off) - I imagine anywhere around there is good as well.

Thanks.

There is a community closely related to thai embassy in singapore. Mostly expats and business owners who meets and gets around within their own circles. If your g/f is such, she will know where to find them and get invited to their meets during her visitations or stay in SG.

Orchard Towers is bang next door to the Thai Embassy on Orchard Road. It is not called the four floors or whores for nothing, so unless you wish to find friends (at a price) there suggest the following:-

Golden Mile Complex ,Beach Road for all things Thai from Som Tam to a magazine, haircut and Karaoke. I,ve not heard of a Thai market on Scotts Road or around Newton.

There are some Thai "Wats" here in Singapore and hold social events from time to time. This would be a better choice to meet Thais in Singapore than hanging around Orchard Towers.

My wife (Thai) and I have lived here for about 10 years now and Orchard Towers is one of the last places she would to be making friends in. The girls that go there are mostly in Singapore to make cash through sex, not for socialising for the love of it.

I hear there is a Thai Association at the Orchard Towers but not sure how active they are.

I would say this post is bang on the money.

I've also worked in SG several times and on a couple of occasions my GF accompanied me; she never had trouble making friends. There are people from all of the ASEAN countries living and working in SG and its a very easy place to make friends.

And do stay away from OT, its no place to take a wife or serious GF IMHO (great for a night-out on your own though).

Agreed, Golden Mile is probably a good starting point. Orchard Towers is not a place to be heading to with the GF.

No Thai Tv programs on Tv here, but you can stream them on line.

By the way, private satellite dishes are illegal.
