Here's my situation,

Right now I just graduated with a BSED Biology and a minor in Earth sciences and I am considering coming back to Thailand.

I taught in an EP program for 2.5 years in 2006-2008 before returning to the states.

I am really thinking about moving back for a year or two with the intent of looking at it as a permanent move. Since moving back to the US I can not stop thinking about moving back to Thailand as quickly as I can. A return trip last summer didn't help this...

My question involving international schools is that I have the education qualifications and can become certified in ESS and environmental science in BKK as well

but my teaching experience is from the primary level and I am certified for 7-12.

I am wondering how hirable I am at the moment and if working at a bilingual school teaching science for a year or two would go a long way or not.

My last problem is that I am really wanting to move back to Chiang Mai and would be willing to work at a bilingual school and supplement my income while waiting for an opening.

So, cliff notes:

Certified teacher but no experience in the US

2.5 experience in Thailand

Good enough for a entry level international school?

would 2 years teaching my field in a bilingual school in Thailand improve my chances?

Thanks all.

I think the true-blue international schools do their recruitment from overseas, primarily the home country of the international school. It's my understanding that they usually hire people with experience and a teacher's license from the country. I do know of exceptions, however.

The 2nd tier international schools--those not directly affiliated, approved or licensed from another country, would certainly be an option for you.

You would meet the criteria for bilingual schools in Thailand and I doubt that you would have any trouble finding employment.

Thanks Scott.

I am not too worried about the true blue international schools as most of them employe people with a graduate degree, which I don't have at this time.

I know I would be taking a pay cut and the job options are limited in Chiang Mai compared to bangkok, but oh well.

If I can get the number I have in my head salary wise from a bilingual school I shouldn't have any trouble living a good life while keeping an eye out for a more lucrative job.

Thanks for confirming my assumptions.
