Just looking for some suggestions where to spend a night in this area, woulld you cross into Cambodia or stay on the Thai side for the night?

I know there are a few casinos in Poipet and as a regular visitor to Las Vegas this is rather appealing, having said that i realise these gaffs aren't run as Vegas ones unde Nevada state law. Im guessing they could be pretty corrupt???

We are heading to Siem Reap for a few days and taking the lunchtime train from Bangkok and arrive in the area around 5.30 or something if this as any bearing on the situation.

Thanks for any insight.

I'm from Vegas. The casinos there really suck. Use to do the border runs from Bangkok and we would have lunch there before heading back.

A few years ago we stayed in a really nice hotel in Aranya Prathet. Can't remember the name, but it's the only 3-4 star hotel there. Nice rooms, nice places to eat nearby. Heading over the border, IMHO, quality drops pretty drastically. But we had a car then, so it was easier to get around. I can do some more research on this if you are interested. Wifey's uncle is a border patrol guy there.

Well i wasn't expecting Wynn or Bellagio standards but having said that my 2 favoirite joints in Vegas were The Sahara and The Western. Both now sadly closed!

What do you mean they suck? I read food and drink are free when you are gambling, can't be that bad? I can imaging the BJ rules being crappy 6/5 or even evens.

BJ? No way. Ton's of games I didn't understand (I am a regular Vegas visitor myself). And if you think it doesn't get any lower than the Western (makes me sad to hear its closed) at least the Casino I had a "visa run food coupon" for will make you think again.

Basically it looks like a school cantine with some gambling tables on the sides. No decoration, no rules in English and so on - I was more than happy that I only had like 20 minutes there. Take the flight to Macau if you're interested in Vegas style casinos.

Well put! Being from Vegas, I didn't even find Macau that interesting. My Vegas favorites? I love the mermaids at The Silverton. Red Rocks is pretty neat, as is South Point, Green Valley Ranch and of course the Four Queens. I can't even remember all the low dogger places my father and I use to hang out at doing 10 cent roulette! Those places are long gone.

Like you said, they play different games here.

You must have been staying in a different hotel to the ones i have been looking at, some of them actually look half decent and do indeed offer Black Jack.
