KLONG DAN LAWSUIT MAY EXPIRE, IF WAIT CONTINUES

Legal advisor of the Klong Dan(คลองด่าน) project, Nakrit Sawettanan (นายณกฤช เศวตนันท์) indicated that the lawsuit regarding the construction of water detoxification plants at Klong Dan (คลองด่าน) district may expire if the case has to wait for the National Counter Corruption Commission (NCCC) for its ruling.

Mr. Nakrit said that it will be too late for the government to fix the law changing the prescription of the case related to the country’s properties, as the case is still under the NCCC. He said the case has just been deliberated by the Sub-committee of the NCCC, and the wrongdoers have just been informed of their charges. He said that there are still 4-5 other procedures to go through before a decision can be made. He said that the only thing the government can do regarding the Klong Dan case is to have the Department of Pollution Control file all 3 criminal lawsuits against officials who have retired, current officials, and private parties involved in the scandal.

Mr. Nakrit added that if the government still waits for the NCCC to make a decision, the prescription of the case may expire, adding that it will affect other lawsuits related to the Klong Dan scandal.
