American Woman Stabbed to Death at Sukhumvit Hotel

BANGKOK: -- The body of an American woman was found stabbed to death at a hotel in the Sukhumvit area. Police believe her Indian boyfriend committed the murder as he's fled the country since last night.

At 3.30 P.M. yesterday, police received a call that a foreign woman was found stabbed to death in Fraser Suite Hotel in Sukhumvit Soi 11.

In room 1701 on the 17th floor of the 32-storey hotel, police found the body of 52-year-old Wendy S. Albrano, an American national, on the bathroom floor wearing a red bra and black long pants. She was stabbed in the chest several times and there were signs of strangulation around her neck.

The coroner estimated that she died 20 hours ago.

The body has been brought to Chulalongkorn Hospital for an autopsy. The American Embassy has been informed and will contact the victims' relatives.

Police said the victim checked in at the hotel since February 9 and she had made a reservation via the internet. The hotel's closed circuit camera recorded the image of an Indian man aged 25 to 30 staying with her. Their last image was recorded on Sunday and they were seen leaving the hotel before returning at around 7 P.M.

Then the man was spotted leaving the hotel with his luggage at 8 P.M.

The body was discovered by a maid cleaning the room in the afternoon of the following day.

Police added there were no signs of struggle and they still cannot determine if any of her valuables are missing.

They suspect the pair had argued before the man murdered her and fled. Immigration records showed him leaving the country since 11 P.M. on Sunday. Police said they will issue an arrest warrant for the suspect and contact Interpol to pursue him.

The story seems to be full of speculation .. CCTV shows her with an Indian man (must be her boyfriend), he was seen leaving with his luggage (must have left the country). There are far more questions than answers here .. it would be silly to jump to conclusions. Remember this is Thailand.

This was breaking news almost 24 hours ago, not on Tuesday afternoon.

If this had been written and published on Monday, it would have been true to say that the guy "fled the country since last night" - he left on Sunday night.

Hopefully the victim's relatives were informed before this was made public. If not, this is a typical example of bad taste.

That Indian guy did it. Else he who on run away.

If this had been Pattaya then ACCORDING to the police she would have committed suicide.

RIP

Autopsy is still in progress, don't rush to conclusions. TiT coffee1.gif

Dead for 20 hours?? Her body was not discovered until the next afternoon!

What kind of Housekeeping service does this hotel operate?

Ones with 'Do Not Disturb' signs.

Likely it's the boyfriend or at least indan man seen there,

but liver temperature and other tests could potentially

place the time of death sometime after he is seen departing.

In which case he would be at the airport or in the air.

What is not clear is " 20 hours ago" starts from WHEN.

3:30PM? 5PM etc.

RIP dear lady, you deserved a better end.

Thai language version of the story. Seems that her family name could be Albano instead of Albrano.

Thai media speculate it could be this woman:

Suspect is Sanghvi Ritesh Narpatraj 26 year old citizen of India, according to Thai news sources.

Hmmm...that easy? Just like that? Guy murders her, packs his stuff and goes home? I think there's something more to it

Such a shame. First she's murdered, then her sordid end becomes a news circus and finally she's the subject of the ever popular flame- game Let's Guess Who Did It Because We Know More Than The Police on ThaiVisa.

Of which you have bought into as well by choosing to post commentary.

Fled the country to where? If he fled to India there may be a chance he'll be expedited or maybe not. Thailand is trying to better relations with India and India is trying to better relations with Thailand. It could have been self defense.

Did you expect him to have a coffee at Starbuck's first?

NO I don't expect that!!! I expect he would go to Mr. Donut! BUT>>>. if he did go to Starbucks I hope he stole some of the coffee mugs as a parting gift.

lets do remember that this poor woman has been murdered and that her friends and family will be looking for information on her death.

Please do bear that in mind when posting, some of you people really seem to not grasp that her loved ones could be reading this. Do try to have some sensitivity.
