I'm in the process now.

Does this involve a Thai national returning home after more than 1 year abroad?

If so, used houshold goods are tax free, though some attempt to get some teamoney might be expected.

2 possible sticking points are multiples of an item, i.e 2 TV's. You are only alowed one tax free and the amount they may apply as tax for the second is totally variable, but usually negotiable.

The second thing I have heard of problems with is items they may class as antiques..

Are you wanting a full removals service or a bit more of a DYI approach?

going to have about 20 boxes packed by us,golf clubs,127cm plasma, computer monitor will want them to pack.

wife is thai national lived in aus for 11 years, now moving to Mukdahan for semi retirement.

so is it better to send eveything in the wifes name.

what company are you using.

It must be in her name to get the tax free status.

I'm packing everything myself, 2 guys and a van to take it to the warehouse and a freight company to pack and forward the container.

A 20ft container ex sydney is $3500.

My plasma I'm selling rather than taking. It's 4yrs old but looks new, might attract teamoney. Easier and probably better just to buy a new LCD there rather than go through the hassle only to find out it didn't survive the trip.

Golf clubs are going on plane with me as are the laptops and monitors.

My initial thought was to just liquidate everything and buy all new stuff there, I'm still thinking that might have been the better option as when I look at what we have, well it mostly looks like junk except for some nice teak furniture.
