Should be able to apply at any time if you have a valid entry/exit stamp in your passport = you are legal in Thailand. You might need some sort of proof of accommodation (rental contract etc).

This is the problem , he's day to day at guesthouses. He bought my bike to travel through Laos, Cambodia and wherever else the wind takes him. But while in Thailand i wish he would transfer the name...

one day

and Op every CoR I have had issued, I would assume some 100 of them, have had an expire date, similar to expire date of permit to stay

One day? Ok cool thanks kbb, i'll let him know, we were under the impression that a rental agreement was needed.

a rentalagreement or a copy of a tabien baan is needed, but one day remaining on permit to stay is sufficient

why not let him use your adress?

I would, but i thought his name had to be on the rental agreement. But if just a copy of tabien ban is sufficient then i think i can get that.

thanks

100 CoR issued to you already, You must be a busy boy. cowboy.gif

Also Phuket immigration is not very strict on the required paperwork for those CoR's

As long you have something with your address on it it will be normally excepted.

People received those CoR even when they had a name card with their address on it.

so where did you get a CoR without an expiry date? I d like one, as i wouldnt need to get a new one every 90 days when my permit to stay expires

be aware the expiry date can be in Thai numbers, not english

I think you two are talking about two different things.

cdmtdm

CoR is an special letter to confirm your address which you need when you want to buy or sell for example a car or bike or to renew your DL.

katabeachbum

You mention that you need the letter every 90 days when you permit to stay expires ??

I don't know which can't of visa or visa extension you have off-course but i think you mean the 90 day reporting which you have to do in case you are on a one year extension. ( this is the TM47 form for the 90 day reporting )

Your extension expire date ( in case you are on a one year visa extension ) is not every 90 days but after one year, you only have to do the reporting every 90 days and for this reason you have a date on the TM47 slip which to put in your passport.

This is not the CoR letter which is cdmtdm is referring to.

every 90 day I do a new permit to stay and 90 day report, and at the same time get one or more CoR, as it sure will be needed before next 90 days to transfer some bike or car or DL or whatever

about a year ago 90 days report and CoR looked very similar, but since then they have gone back to the word printed doc with attached and stamped photo. DLT requires original when transfer to buy, so 3 months ago I needed 5 of them

to transfer sale at Phuket DLT, CoR is not required. only valid permit to stay is

i went to Yangon late Jan to renew my visa, before hand i called into Phuket Imm and obtained my Cert Of Resid at no charge , i showed this at the Thai embassy in Yangon with all my other docs , it was only when i returned home that i realised its not dated ....the reason i asked the question is i need a copy of COR for licensing dept ... this is not a photo id type document its a smallish slip with all the details no pic etc

Phuket Immigration stopped using those CoR slips looking very similar to 90 days report at least 190 days ago. Since then a muslim lady has been issuing all CoR as a document with stamped photo attached.

the no charge part of your post, as they always ask for 300 baht for CoR, and time frame, makes me think what you have in hand is a 90 day report, not a CoR

DLT drivers lisence accepts one original CoR and one copy for 2 DL, at least they did in December

I would try with the one you have in hand, if not its back to Immigration to get the proper one

this is intriguing i have just checked it again and it clearly states its a receipt of aliens address , i am on a multi non imm b visa so it cannot be the 90 report , i also passed the guy my pics and he said they were not required .... it states the date 23 jan and my visa type and visa exp date , i can see my address in numerical form ..thats it ...when asked in Yangon for the original of my cert of residence i showed this to them and it was fine , they copied it and left me with the original ...

Sorry but i'm a little bit confused.

The CoR is A4 paper size which is printed from a computer for this you need an picture which will be attached to the paper.

This cost 300 baht.

The small piece of paper is the 90 day reporting.

Maybe something went wrong when you where at the immigration office, i don't know this but what you have is the 90 Day reporting slip ( which is for free ) and not the CoR.

yes i have previously had that a4 document , but the last two times have been this style and i was told on both occasions for a COR it is free , this time by the officer attending himself , the last time by the volunteer .... it is indeed a COR because i needed it for my visa renewal ...

There is no official charge for the CoR, it's free. I have never paid for one, mind you I make no friends at Phuket Immigration.

yeah, 300 baht asking 4 times a year, and i have "friends" in Immigration. It is indeed worth it, just asked me the other day (in Thai) arent you going to swap to Non Imm RE soon, I said I am not 50 until September, they said I think you are 50 next time (May) by year of birth

yes off-course is the CoR officially for free and yes you can insist that you don't pay anything and maybe you get away with it and you saved 300 baht.

But don't forget that the Immigration officers can also refuse any extension application you put in or any other application you do without any reason given, and Thai people have a very good memory for faces and names.

So who is laughing in the end, I don't think it is you.

You can change to the retirement in the year you get 50 years, so if get 50 in September you can change to the retirement visa from today.

Yes, you are quite right. Fact is that I made war on Phuket Immigration over 10 years ago when I applied for my very first one year extension. I had heard horror stories that i would need to pay big tea money, so i was prepared when the officer actually phoned me on my mobile phone, advised that my application had been approved, wanted to bring my passport to my home = he wanted 'big tea money'. I made excuses and said I would call into the Immigration Office and collect, he insisted on making a personal visit, I ended up seeing him at Immigration, he made a big show of displaying the one year stamp and asked how much it was worth. I presented the 500 baht paid receipt (it was 500 baht back then) and he threw my passport at me in a rage and stormed off. Oh dear I thought, this will not go well next year. And the next year this officer refused to look at my application and passed me onto another officer. Now 11 years later I am on my 11th annual extension. And they all know I will only pay official fees. Surprised I am still here in Thailand. No doubt the day of reckoning will arrive .....
