Steam Room/Sauna In Chiang Mai?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of a clean, good quality steam room/sauna in Chiang Mai?

You might take a look at the Lanna Sauna and Sport Club located a couple blocks north of Tanin Market in the Chang Peuak neighborhood. I haven't been there for about a year, but they did/do have both a steam room and a sauna. http://www.wikimapia.org/#lat=18.8062968&lon=98.9828897&z=19&l=0&m=b

Chiang Mai or Chiang Mai "area"?

There's a temple just off the 107 that I've heard has a steam bath but I haven't checked it out yet.

I have used the sauna at Rawee Waree Resort and thoroughly enjoyed it (disclaimer: I'm unbiased, but I don't pay - my better half runs the place). You do have to tell them what temperature you'd like it set to though, they think 60 is "hot".

There is a really good one half way up Moonmuang Road soi 7 (towards Doi Suthep)with really hot herbal steam in seperate rooms. I can't remember the name, but it is pretty obvious as that is all they do there - other than traditional Thai massage upstairs.

Thanks for the replies.

I should have been more specific bobl I meant the city area.

I went here once - I was disappointed. It's pretty dirty (maybe I have high standards) so don't expect any luxury. In its favour, it is very cheap at 100b or so, it also gets nicely hot and the staff are friendly. I would be interested to know if there are any higher end places offering a more luxurious experience without the 5* price tag.

You can buy a day pass at the Centara/Duangtawan fitness center, and use all the facilities. The men's dressing room has a steam room, and two sauna rooms: usually one sauna room is so hot that I am the only one I know that can sit on the top bench for more than five minutes.

I am sure the women's dressing room has similar facilities, but for some reason I am not allowed to go in there, even after I explained to the staff that according to Carl Jung a man's soul, his "anima," is female :)

And what better, after all sweated-out, and then cold-showered, than to relax in the swimming pool, which remains, still, yet, quite cool. ?
