BANGKOK: -- Police raided a gay spa on called '8 ½ Inches' on Srinakarin Road and found 2 male masseuse testing positive for narcotics. They confessed to taking the drug 'ice' and purchasing it from a couple, the man being a former flight attendant for Jet Star Airways who was fired for using drugs. Police were able to arrest the man who confessed to selling 'ice' to homosexual men at 3,000 baht per gram and sometimes providing Viagra too for immediate sexual gratification of the user.

Police held a press conference on the arrest of Saranyu or Mac Chaisitwathin, 31, and Piyada or Nam Klaisuwan, 21. They were arrested with possession of 23 grams of 'ice,' 2 methamphetamine pills, 2 mobile phones, 2 Siam Commercial Bank passbooks, 1 Bangkok Bank passbook, and more than 10 sets of drug paraphernalia.

Piyada was arrested at the parking lot of Lardprao Condotown in Lardprao Soi 87 while Saranyu was arrested at room number 336 of the Ratchada 17 Place in Intamara Soi 47.

Police said the arrest stemmed from a raid of gay spa on called '8 ½ Inches' on Srinakarin Road. A subsequent drug testing of the masseuses found 2 who tested positive for drugs. The 2 confessed to taking 'ice' and purchasing it from Piyada. Police then contacted the suspect and negotiated a purchase after which they arrested her. She brought them to her apartment room at room number 807 at Wongchareon Mansion but her boyfriend was able to flush the drugs down the toilet and scale down a water pipe to escape the police.

Piyada then confessed to purchasing the drugs from Saranyu leading police to arrange a purchase with him and his arrest.

Saranyu told police he worked as a flight attendant for Australia's Jet Star Airways for 5 years but was fired after his superiors caught him taking drugs. Being unemployed, he decided to take up peddling drugs. He would purchase 'ice' from his source at 2,500 baht per gram and sell it to homosexual clients at 3,000 baht. He also provides drug paraphernalia and Viagra because many of his clients want to engage in sexual activities after taking drugs.

Question marks over a citizen's rights if the police can routinely raid your place of work and piss test you for drugs, that's scary. Why not just stop people randomly in the streets, or outside parliament, or up market gentlemen's clubs...

i think they do, I think I have read reports of people being tested at nightclubs on Sukhumvit

Methamphetamine is not a narcotic.

The term narcotic (pronunciation: /nɑrˈkɑːtɨk/, from Greek narkō, “Ι benumb”) originally referred medically to any psychoactive compound with any sleep-inducing properties.

Methamphetamine (USAN) (11px-Loudspeaker.svg.png/ˌmɛθæmˈfɛtəmn/), also known as methamfetamine (INN),[2] N-methylamphetamine, methylamphetamine, and desoxyephedrine, is a psychostimulant of the phenethylamine and amphetamine class of psychoactive drugs. Methamphetamine increases alertness, concentration, energy, and in high doses, can induce euphoria, enhance self-esteem and increase libido.[3][4]

It is frequent on Bangla Road, those 'in favour' get tipped off just prior to the raid.
