4evermaat Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Sometimes I'll leave the phone on the floor and when I return, I see the phone screen is locked (normal) and the signal is x-ed out with the message "Emergency Calls Only" message. After I unlock the phone, the signal magically returns again. This did not happen with previous version 2.2.1, only the recent Android upgrade 2.3.4 have I noticed this difference. Any ideas? Do you think rooting is the ultimate answer? I've been wanting to try out a new rom if it isn't too difficult and will save on battery life. The 2.3.4 upgrade has reduced the battery life also. Can you root the phone and keep the stock Samsung rom? don't want to brick my phone.
flying Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Strange I have the same phone running same OS 2.3.4 & never had that occur The only time I have ever seen that message on any phone is when the sim is removed. Do you have sim lock enabled ?
thaicbr Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 maybe do a reset on the phone. or just take it a Samsung service center. my GF 's galaxy sl is going in soon keeps losing wifi and it shows 'error '
lomatopo Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Maybe have a read through this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1124006.html Yes you can root the phone and keep the stock ROM, although I'm not sure that will in any way fix your problem?
4evermaat Posted February 24, 2012 Author Posted February 24, 2012 ............Do you have sim lock enabled ? No. Although some forums suggested changing the sim card. The exact problem was never truly determined. Service center in bangkok. The phone works ok otherwise. I first noticed it when i try to call the phone to find it. it was off. I find out later it was on the floor. It happened about 4 other times where i saw the emergency calls only message in the screen locked position. "2nd best time to plant a tree is today." Sent from TV android app.
