jvs
After a lot of searching we finally found Gladiola bulbs and they are already sprouting, they are local flowers so i do believe they will be easy to grow. We are still on the lookout for Dahlia flowers and i hope someone can give me any info on them, are they grown overhere and where can we buy them? I know i can get some from Holland but our experience with overseas plants is not very good.
loong
I tried to grow Dahlias from imported seed many moons ago, but no success. I can't remember where, but bought a potted dahlia once but when that withered and died back, to be honest I wasn't quite sure what to do with the tubers in this climate. I left them to dry a little and replanted but the tubers just rotted. Maybe they need the winter cold period to stimulate growth? If I ever find another potted dahlia, I would store the tubers in the refidgerator for a while and see if this helps. I actually like zinnia. very easy to grow from seed, though I have not had a lot of success with local seed packets. I find the best way to grow them is to pinch some seed heads when you see them growing.
