At the risk of being disembowled by TV's hang-em-high brigade, I have to say I feel some sympathy for this old chap. A former RAF pilot, I daresay that he gave greater service to his Country than I have, or, I venture, many of those who are now howling for his death for what was in reality a very minor criminal act undertaken in full consent of his "victim". Now, at the age of 79 he faces ruin and humiliation. We would all do well to remeber the old saying "There, but for the grace of God go I....."

To me, what is far more sickening is the cynical action of the German TV crew paying a 13 year old boy to go out and entrap some old codger just so they could make some salacious movie to titilate the morons back home.

Minor criminal act? Sex acts with a child, consenting or not, are regarded as abhorrent by normal people, and WE won`t be going there but for the grace of God, thank you and speak for yourself. No customer no product. Your woodwork awaits you.

I don't want to enter into the details of this thread, I just want to share a general observation.

Obviously a number of posters here pay for sex and don't mind if their "partner" are under age. They obviously understand it is illegal and against the moral of most established civilisations but still try to find an intellectual justification for their sick actions.

To make a long debate short there are no excuse for this kind of behavior. Now should they be locked in a jail or in an hospital, that we can talk about. But one thing is sure they should not be allowed to roam free our streets. And that is not debatable.

I think you are being hyper-sensitive, I haven't read any statements by anyone that they want to pay for underage service personnel.

You're right, I overreacted but some comments that was since deleted by the mods were pretty sickening. And I just read recently the story of an adopted 10 years old boy that was forced to prostitution by his adoptive father but didn't want to complain because he didn't want to be separated from his new found siblings.

My mother used to do volunteer work for an organization who take care of such kids. One day my brother (was 10-12 at this time) was complaining about the way he was treated, my mother made us read the files of a couple of theses kids. She also invited one of this boy to spend the christmas holiday with us. You cannot start to imagine what these kids go through and how much any form of affection or something that can look like a normal life is important for them.

So the idea that there may be some excuse for an adult to take advantage of a kid is sickening for me. Sorry.

JurgenG >> Indeed, there are some (or, way too many) very sick people in the world. In a less PC world we would have made sure they were not part of the gene-pool anymore.

I just reaction to the post as it might paint some other posters to belonging to this group and I hadn't seen that. If those posts has already then removed, then fair enough.

Don't go overboard. I wouldn't favor him being shot on the spot. To some people, that would be seen as so called support. People get crazy over this issue, often regarding it as worse than murder. Rationally, it isn't.

Nor would I...shot I mean and my post did not go overboard.

I actually each and every case deserves seperate attention as some can and are borderline and deserve different treatment to someone fiddling with a 7yo for example.....however, the people that openly support what he did by means of the victim being at fault....is outrageous.

My reply to all of this, and as stated before, apart from the immoral aspect, is that the kid was USED to get the old guy, that was as Immoral. Kid prostitutes are reality here, but to promote it buy using them to entrap is disgusting. Get these guys-there is an age limit and we have to honour that, even if the kids are experienced at that age. a big media and police problem also.

Yes, the way the kid was used was obviously completely unethical and would have not happened in a western country.

Agree...entrapment is not the way.....similar, but different to that US show that got guys to come visit after setting them up online....I do not agree with that as so many variables....catch the real ones by whatever means available without going down that route is my opinion.

Sexual abuse of minors is widespread in every society. Until we get used to the idea that it's a mainstream activity, rather than the purview of a few outsider perverts we won't solve the problem. Knee jerk reactions won't help, in fact, and I hesitate to say this, a knee jerk reaction might suggest you have a problem yourself (Freud and all that, you know). What I find weird, and just don't understand, is the attraction to prepubescent children. For myself, well I like women with a bit of meat on them, and I also like some kind of mental bonding, which is difficult if you're like 3 generations or more apart. Anyway, I digress, Probably, like the priests, arrested in their mental development, or with the older guys, some sort of regresssion. What I'm saying is that we really need to try and understand what's going on. Just saying "cut their balls off" won't help and won't solve the problem.

One poster tried to infer that one member was a pedophile, and another was a coward. Personally, I think that is a very cowardly way to debate someone, so he's lost his posting rights for a very long time. Please, even when you disagree with fellow members, try to treat them with a bit of respect.

What many of the hang em high brigade don't understand is that paedophillia is a disease, like alcoholism. Just punishing them won't cure the addiction. I'm not going into possible treatments here, but till the "authorities" sit down and discuss it in a rational manner, nothing will change. However, as western society does nothing other than try to punish people for everything, I doubt any reasonable measures will be taken.

As for your allusion to Freud- so true.

I agree to consider pedophillia a minor criminal act is disgusting and it just make you wonder what sort of people would think it a minor act. Theft is a criminal act and someone wants to put abusing children below the theft of a bit of stationary from your work place.

Another post removed. Nobody is pro-pedophile here, and the next person throwing that cheap shot at another member will lose their posting rights for a month.

Even if a 13 year old seems willing at the time, that does not account for mental damage sure to occur later in life. Only a creepy old man with serious mental issues, probably abused sexual themselves, would deem it okay to have sex with a minor under any circumstances.

no excuse for the oldster, he knew and couldn't control the urge. Agree with you about the mental damage, according to reports the kid was mentally damaged many time before, and police made him more mentally damaged by using him again in the set up. I doubt a cure can be found for pedo's, unlike most other (addictions) harsh punishment is deserved but will not cure, isolation will stop it if the outlet is not available, but not cure. Another form is a secure place-with others alike, the same as crazy's with crazy's, killers with killers. I have never heard of a drug that stops the urge for sex with youngsters.

The acts of Pedophilia are the lowest of low. What a pedophille doe's to it's prey is the worst thing any human being could could ever do to another, nothing could even come close. Ask any victim.

I'm not sure, but i think chemical castration is pretty successful.

A vast amount of pedo's are youngsters, the older ones are usually nabbed because they are more sordid and dirty than a younger ped'o ???   all should be classed the same.

But how many 21 year old pedo's are caught, strange isn't it??  it must be deemed to be acceptable if young.

The other point mentioned re-chemical castration, ok but what if the man was married???? do we look at that differently. How many Thai's have been in the news regarding sexual offenses with minors ???  I would also add half of offenses could be stopped if parental control is evident here, lack of it results in kids free style attitude, mixing with the wrong friends and the rest with parents consent.

A post suggesting that child molestation is a myth has been removed. To deny that this actually happens is offensive to the victims of these crimes. Any further discussion along the denier-apologist route will incur suspensions.
