พอจะ And น่าจะ

Featured Replies

Do the following translations adequately show the difference between using พอจะ and น่าจะ

พอจะทนได้ I can bare it alright. (with some reservations, said with a tone indicating one is not completely certain they can bare it)

น่าจะทนได้ I ought to be able to bare it. (said with a tone indicating confidence one can bare it)

(1) I'm pretty sure you mean "bear" not "bare". I'd probably translate this as "endure", though.

(2) The word "ought" is used differently by different native English speakers. To avoid ambiguity I'd probably say "it looks like/appears I'll be able to endure this".

Ha! Which language am I learning again?

Thanks

น่าจะ, I usually take this to mean, should.

น่าจะทนได้, I would translate as, should be able to, bear/stand/endure.

Since ทน includes ได้ in its definition I wonder if you need ได็. Probably ไม่ได็ would be used for a negative statement but the opposite may not be ทนได้ .

Nice translation. It sounds accurate to me.
