Renovating Bathroom On A Budget

Featured Replies

My g/f parents are renovating their bathroom and I have been tasked with finding out where to get a good deal on a western toilet and some tiles

can anybody recomend any shops that might be worth a look?

also any recomendations on the type of tiles for the floor that are non slip

thanks

For toilets try Global, for tiles Global have some good value but so do some out the slightly out of town tile shops

Yes, for all my construction work, predominantly Global house, you can get anything, but as always shop around for comparisons, also there are a couple of Home Marts around, also good prices for most things, there are also two Home Sukkapans, they have everything you need also but have to say by comparioson are expensive for me..then there is mega expensive- the home pro, geared towards the naive expat i think, although my last job i got my best deal on floor tiles, though i did buy 35m2.and they delivered for free also.

PM. me if need to check out these places, happy to take you along, or even offer advice on any of your building works.

Global House, or Noppadon Phanich.

Best is to drive around and look for promotions. I found no big price differences between various shops. It depends more on the style of tiles, which can vary between several hundred and several thousand THB per sqm. Same with toilets. They vary between 3,000 THB for the ultracheap standard model up to 15,000 THB and more for designer models. Global House and Home Sukhapan both offer large selections. Best non-slip tiles are those with rough textures, such as the wooden textures, etc.

Cheers, CMX

Good for you always a pleasure to hear a expat who isn't worried about his money all the time. Some of the nicest moments I have had here is watching the wife when I help out with her family.

If you are a keen DIYer offer to do the tiling yourself; then you are guaranteed to have a western quality job, not an amateurish one carried out by at best thai labour...and bathrooms/plumbing/water..i think critical, its got to be right- dont you think?

start on the pay roll and wont stop.

Global, definitely for toilets; followed by TOR for tile. Home Pro is a no-no unless there is definitely a true sale: I've seen items cheaper here before they are placed on 'sale', and even then more expensive than Global or TOR. TOR, btw, is just down the super from Global towards Hang Dong, conspicuously on the RHS (west). Usually a big tent out front with tiles. Prices of toilets etc rival Global's.

Lol...yup I did all our plumbing and fixtures and fittings in our bathrooms...thought I was a reasonable tiler. Everywhere in our house is is bloody tiled .....christ knows how many square feet but would have driven me ape-shit I think.

Anyways did the counter top (BAD BAD idea!) + splash back in kitchen myself...actually it looks like <deleted> compared to the local girls' work...ah well.violin.gif
