As the days are getting closer to the end of yet another year, and it seemed like just yesterday I was celebrating the beginning of a new Millennium (see my Avatar from 1999), nearly 5 years have gone by since then.

So, what was your most memorable time or times during this 2005 year ?

Mine, sadness :D and happiness :D .

Sadness:- was going down to Khao Lak and showing the World what it looked like 53 day later.

Tsunami - Phang-nga - Khao Lak - 53 Days Later

Happiness:- Songkran over 5 days in Kan seeing smiling faces and people having a time of their lives

Songkran 2005

(Thanks to Viktor for the “AquaPac” which protected the camera from the water and the rain, and to Simon who took most of the shots in and out of the car. Without both them these photos could not have been taken. Thank you both of you for helping me.)

And ThaiVisaDotCom for keeping me entertain throughout 2005 and not banning me YET. :D

What was yours ? :o

Happy Days :D

Salt and Pepper to you all (Seasonal Greetings) :D

Yours truly, :D

Kan Win :D

Oh, and gettin properly spammered with them too cos, they like me know how to do it best without jibbin.

What is a swimming pool for if not to ease away a hangover..... :o

When I took my Viet boyfriend to Thailand, my home of five years with the hope that he would like it so that we can come back to live in Bangkok. Unfortunately, that dream has been crushed as he has complained that there are 'too many Asians' and he doesn't like not knowing how to speak Thai and being mistaken for one. He was picking it up pretty quickly, but he told me he's not interested. I'm sad :o

My most memorable moment in 2005? Attending the 100-day tsunami anniversary in Khao Lak to interview the locals and see where they were at. Most were still devastated, but ever so determined to reclaim their paradise. And all were smiling - no matter what circumstances they'd been reduced to.

I bet that was simultaneously an uplifting and humbling experience khall... :D

Good on you for sharing. :o

Thanks Jai Dee. You know what? I was thinking about running away from all the tsunami aniversary stuff at Christmas- and just going away somewhere quiet to eat turkey with my friends - but... I think I better go back to Khao Lak to see how far the locals have come since last Xmas. Just for the record, am sure the world would like to know!

BEST:

Many many wonderful moments all round, but probably waking up after five days of darkness and rain, and seeing the sun shine, after hurricane stan

Hurricane Stan Devestation Pictures.

Or Running the "best bar in the world". Maybe.... :o:D:D

WORST:

Sitting through four days of ther worst downpours I´ve ever witnessed, watching half a village getting swept away.

The news that news hasn´t changed. SSDD.... every day. I dunno.... This year hasn´t been so bad. Not very lucrative, but then that might have more to do with my bar bill than anything else.

OH! When i had a pistol put to my head by a drunken juvenile delinquant... That really was not much fun. :D
