I love Yingluck wub.png and I'm going to tell you why.........

Sometimes in life you wake up in the morning and think to yourself, "How the hell did this happen?". I think we have all had days like that in our lives, in fact, some of us have had many.

There are some people here on Thaivisa who are rabid, uncontrollably rabid in their hatred and contempt for this lady, and as far as I am concerned that is beyond not fair. Many of these people couldn't run for a bus but they feel qualified to vilify. Yes it is obvious that the position that she currently finds herself in owes a lot, if not everything to her brother, however Yingluck has found herself at the centre of a perfect storm and carried herself with grace and demeanour.

Take the politics out of it, and look at the lady. As far as I can see Yingluck never put her head above the political parapet, she was content to get on with her life directing and controlling business interests. I think she would have been quite delighted to have gone through her entire life without stepping into the malaise of politics in Thailand.

However we all saw the level of conflict that erupted in Bangkok two years ago, and we all worried about the stability of the nation. It was obvious that factions were drawing lines in the sand, and there were power struggles everywhere, even within her own movement. Yingluck found herself at the epicentre of all of these struggles, and as far as I am concerned, she did not seek it.

As a political novice, she was thrown in to the deepest of deep ends during the elections last year, and came out with the victory that the country anointed her with. Don't be kidded, the country knew who was at the forefront of the election campaign, and Yingluck has found herself as the first female leader of this wonderful and disparate nation. If I go back over topics on this website over the past few months there are hundreds of Thaivisa members making thousands upon thousands of disparaging and flawed remarks about this lady.

Put your hands up, how many of you reading this thought she would have paved the way for her brother to be back by now? Wrong huh? It doesn't matter how it has came to pass, you are wrong, full stop.

This beautiful lady is at the epicentre of this political maelstrom, and she has shown humanity and dignity throughout it all. Yes there are times that she has been unsure, and yes there are times she has been emotional, but I credit Yingluck for that. As I said at the start "Sometimes in life you wake up in the morning and think to yourself, ""How the hell did this happen?"".

During the floods last year, a national crisis that was none of her doing, who could have blamed Yingluck for thinking that. Some of the personal attacks against her I read here were an embarrassment to people's upbringing. Get off your horse and drink your milk, this lady underwent an emotional turmoil that would send most people off the edge, and she came through it. She is a credit to the Thai nation for showing the level of humanity and dignity that she did at that time.

To a certain extent, we are forgetting that Thai politics exists in a permanent state of SNAFU ( Situation Normal, All Effed Up ), with some extraordinary personalities and extraordinary pressures being part of the daily mill here. However we are forgetting one thing............

Strip away the politics, this is a beautiful, compassionate and dignified lady being asked to do an extraordinary job in extraordinary circumstances, and she is doing it with grace and humility. To me she is a credit to Thailand and a credit to herself. I hope she grows into the job more over the next few months and also brings growth and continuing stability to the country, and I hope one day people will begin to recognize her for what she is, a graceful lady doing a difficult job in difficult circumstances on behalf of her people, her nation.

Yingluck, you're a star wub.png

I am happy for you that you like her but we have a policy of keeping General free of political threads, there is enough political arguing in News to content even the most hardcore poltiticker.
