If I entered Thailand on a thirty day visa, as South Africans are permitted, how would I go about getting a two month extension when I do a border run? Am I required to fly out of the country or may I simply do a border run to Cambodia? Roughly how much would it cost in total?

Kind regards

Actually you are not allowed a 30 day tourist visa but only a 30 day extension of stay which the airline may require you prove exit within 30 days. You can not extend this stay.

You could visit a Consulate before travel or in another country to obtain a real tourist visa which allows a 60 day stay on entry and then can be extended 30 days at any immigration office.

You are entitled to a 30 day Visa Exempt Entry.

If you do not have a visa or a flight leaving Thailand within 30 days you may well be refused entry on the flight.

Asuming you make it to Thailand leaving and returning by a land border will give you 15 days.

Returning by an airport will give 30 days.
